It's interesting how many fabrics I looked past without seeing them when I made the first search for the backing for the floral stars quilt. I think this one will be perfect. It is from the same time period as the floral fabrics and I have 9 yards of it.
That was actually the second fabric I pulled out of the large bin and I first thought this might be a candidate. It is a taupe type beige and is a Jinny Beyer fabric. After I found the other one though, I realized this would make a great backing for the William Morris Trip Around the World quilt. I have 5 yards which is plenty.
When I was outside in the garden 2 days ago I thought one of the hanging baskets only had white double impatiens but now I see they both have both colors. This shot was taken from my dining room window which is the only clear view from the house.
I got my housework done yesterday so today I should be able to play with fabric.

I am very curious; what is the tree growing to the right? Does it canopy easily or is that just a rogue branch?
Oh yes that fabric is perfect, Wanda--I have to keep looking for JRJ
separator strips...thinking now of B&W--what a total "jumble" it is!!

68 here and cloudy this Saturday morning--we will be watching F1
qualifying and I will be working on Pineapple.
Funny, I think I've grown to be drawn to more "traditional" patterns as I age--everything changes, doesn't it?
Hugs for a fun weekend getting your backing done.....Julierose
Your two large pieces are wonderful for the quilt backings! Through the years I have used at least one of Jinny Beyer’s fabrics in many of my quilts. The early ones are so different and I love this piece of yours!

gorgeous...wouldn't mind having 5 yards of that at all....sooo pretty
So great you can shop your stash for backing! Your choice will look terrific! Go play with fabric!
Hey, you got a twofer……a perfect backing for the stars and one for the TAW. I love double impatiens and yours are looking good. When impatiens weren’t available we planted double begonia’s that bloomed so well, we have stuck with them.
I don’t know of another quilter that has the stash of fabrics like you do and to find such wonderful large pieces for backings. And what a lovely photo of your Inpatients.
Those are two absolutely beautiful (and perfect) backings and there's enough of each! I love your stars top and that subtle border - glad you didn't add anything more to it.
I love both of those fabrics and think they will work out too. I don't have many large pieces of fabric for backing. I have enough to put piece for say a 60x60 or maybe 70x70 but that would be about it.
A bounteous fabric stash is a joy forever to a prolific quilter like you! I love both of those big fabrics, but the Jinny Beyers are always my favorites.
You were smart to collect many large yardages of fabric years ago. With fabric now around $14.00 a yard I don't know that buying 5 yards at a time would be affordable. You are sitting on a gold mine of fabric! Both pieces are lovely and are perfect for the TAW and star tops.
