Last minute November finishes and more......................

There is nothing better than an all day sewing day.  It was too cold to go anywhere.

This top is finally finished other than a little trimming of the bottom edge.  It ended up at 49.5" x 71".  There are 2 Martha Negley fabrics in it and the rest are all Kaffe Fassett Collective.

I determined a final layout and got this flannel baby quilt top sewn together too.  When I was putting the blocks up on the  design wall, I realized the bottom left block was shorter than the rest.  Evidently 2 of the light strips were 1.75" instead of 2".  I thought I had pulled all of those out of the box.  I added a strip to the bottom of the block to get it up to size.  Only 1/4" of it will show when the quilt is finished.

Last night I needed some mindless sewing so I pulled out a bag of small Marcia Derse scraps.  I will have to pull out the bag with longer strips to continue piecing these.

I made 6 all together, working until I ran out of everything but very small scraps.

This small pile was left and will go into a smaller bag and put back in the box for now.

This plant's blooms are dark orange or red-orange depending on how you would want to classify them.

I turned the plant so I could get a photo with better light.

I wish these blooms would last longer.  They are so pretty at their peak.

Sewing leftover random bits is the best mindless sewing. Sometimes that’s what I do when I’m avoiding sewing blocks into a top which is what I’m currently doing :-( The cactus blooms really don’t last long but when you have a plant full of blooms, it doesn’t seem as sad. This year I only have a few blooms on my plants so their briefness of the blooms is more noticeable.

I love sewing with scraps--; your crazy MN pieces are really neat...
And you got two tops together--how wonderful...;))) I will be trimming up Sunrise, Sunset today and then I have to find a fabric and make the binding as my box of leftover bindings didn't give me anything I could use...;(((
33 here this morning and sunny--waiting for the predicted snow--but most likely it will be sleet/slush here as the Ocean is still @ 48 degrees...Would love to see actual snowflakes falling...fingers crossed...hugs, Julierose

Your mindless blocks are quite interesting. You certainly have good luck with your Christmas cacti.

Applause, applause for all you accomplished during your all day sewing! The quilts are charming and I love your solution to the short flannel block. Smart!
There are days when it's just too cold or wet to leave the house and you made the most of yesterday!

Hugs!

Those champagne/pink blossoms are gorgeous - I don't think I've seen that color anywhere except here on your blog. The strippy quilt top is wonderful and a baby quilt in flannel is such a good idea.

That was the perfect solution for the flannel block. The strippy top is so pretty and so are all those flowers on your plants! One of the guys brought in a Hibiscus to overwinter and it has blooms on it every day. I will have to take a picture and post it tomorrow.
