Baking again.........

I baked Kringlas in the morning and should have left the oven on and baked something else.  When I turned the oven on later in the afternoon....nothing....no heat.

Since I already had chocolate spritz dough made, I had to go to plan B.  My main oven is gas, but I have a countertop electric oven.  I know things bake differently in the 2 kinds because my mother had electric and her cookies always turned out different than mine.  It took many trays to bake since the oven is small but I got the job done.

After I figured out the adjustments I needed to  make, I mixed up the ginger cookie dough.  The first tray came out a little dark so I get to eat them.  The rest came out OK.

Now it is the orange/peach cactus turn to bloom.  It always blooms in sections even though it is all one plant.

I always need my closeup shot.  There are several more buds so it should bloom for almost 2 weeks.  I saw a bud on another one on the shelf below this one and I don't have it marked for color.  I think it is the orangey red.

We got another 3 or 4" of snow very early yesterday morning.  Today is going to be cold and then mid 30s for 2 days with rain possible.  That should clean off the last bit on the driveway but then there is more snow predicted.

The cookies look delicious! I grew up with had electric ranges/ovens. I didn't cook with gas until I moved to Texas. Electric in Kansas, Maine, and North Dakota. Back in Illinois I've had gas in both houses.

sounds like this is a snowy December for you. Hope you can get your oven working or will you need to get a new one? The cactus are still looking good.

Your blog has gotten blocked on my computer and I don’t know why so I am using the phone. Is there a problem with your stove? At least you have the countertop oven. I got a piece of Christmas cactus. How do I propagated it?

Lovely Christmas cookies you've baked, Wanda!! Tom got us an apple-peeler-corer gadget as an early Christmas present for the kitichen; we plan to try it out today and I will make us an apple pie...hope it works ok...
Cold here at 25 degrees but nice and sunny, if a bit on the windy side...no snow as yet...
My cacti got moved as we re-arranged the tv back room yesterday so they are in a bit of a sulk I think...I read that they don't like to be moved when in bud or bloom--sigh--we'll see how they fare...hugs, Julierose

I seriously miss our gas oven (Indiana house). The electric is slower to heat and I agree that the two power sources bake very differently. DH didn't make cookies yesterday - he made homemade pizza instead (YUMMY). Both of my cacti are now shedding the earliest blooms but there are lots more buds developing.

Delicious looking cookies and pretty cactus blossoms ~ doesn’t get much better than that to start off my day today. My Mom always had a Gas oven and felt they were are better than electric.

What delicious cookies in your photos!
We prefer a gas cooktop but have an electric oven.
Today is another snow day for us after the 4" we got on Friday mostly melted. In the last several years we've had only a couple of dustings of snow, so this is certainly a change! Our high is to be 34*F and the low tonight, 18*F. Brrrr!

Hugs!

Your cookies look delicious! I grew up with electric (lots of dams in TN) but had gas in one place I lived. It's definitely an adjustment.
