First February finish.........

The binding is on....it is finished!  It is 64" x 83".  Here is the post with the book that the pattern is in.  I didn't do the triangle border that Kathy has on her quilt.  I used Kaffe Fassett yarn dyed woven stripes, Marcia Derse fabric for the background in each block and the border and an assortment of large prints, five which are around 20 years old.  There are a few Australian prints and a couple newer prints also.
I had a 3 yard piece and a 2 yard piece of the brown butterfly backing fabric.  I needed two 2 1/2 yard pieces so I was able to piece it to fit.

I think the randomly spaced straight line quilting looks great on it.

This orange print is one of the 20+ year old prints.

The brown border fabric looks so dark in the photos above.  It is a warmer brown close up.  It blends nicely with the colors in the blocks.

I think straight line or slightly wavy quilting is the only way I like the quilts other than hand quilting. I will be machine quilting my scrappy stars when I get done with them and want to do straight line. I want the design to stand out like you have yours and not the quilting. But I use whites for background I'm trying to decide what color thread to use with the aqua/white and then of course the 16 patches in the middle are darker - a very very light aqua or gray is what I am thinking. How do you decide thread color

I love this quilt! I wasn't sure when I saw some of the fabric combos for the blocks, but it all came together beautifully and all the prints really do work well together. The border is perfect to hold it all together. Congrats on a beautiful finish.

A Sunday Special ! OMG Wanda this finished with such pizazz ! All your chosen fabrics complimenting your X blocks perfectly.... and then to use the brown butterfly for your backing just took my breath away. Plus perfect quilting with your random straight stitching pattern. This is another beauty!
