Choosing batiks......

The first 8 blocks I pieced last week were from pretty much a random grab of squares and strips.  Now I want to plan out the other 27 blocks.  This is the group of 6.5" squares from which I will choose 27 pieces.
I have 7 drawers full of 2.5" strips that I cut on a regular basis.  I chose 27 out of 2 of the drawers.

This is the assortment I ended up with.
I will cut the strips into their segments and then pair them with a square.  At that point I'll go to the box of 1.5" strips and choose 27 of them and cut them into segments.  Then I will be ready to sew.

It looks wonderful just to see so many colors. It really pays to have so many choices. The variety even glows in the photo.

it must be wonderful to have drawers of strips already cut and ready to use! Sometime I must measure the space under my cutting table and see if I can find drawers to fit it and fill them up with the pre-cut scraps - I have them in boxes right now but strips would be better laid out more

this is the bento-box-like quilt, right? (just checking -- sometimes you have several in the works at the same time!)

Good morning Wanda.....This looks as though a fun time is in store for both you and us, your viewing and learning audience. Just want you to know how much your time, knowledge and experience is appreciated. Looks as though we are going to have some nice weather

Do you have strips and squares of all kinds already cut from all your fabrics? That's pretty remarkable! That you already have 6.5" squares as well as 2.5" and 1.5" strips from all the batiks. And I imagine those are not the only cuts you have of all the batiks; in fact I'm sure you have several others, like the much smaller ones you use for color washes.
But I'm also pretty sure that you don't automatically cut every piece of batik you purchase into all kinds of smaller sub cuts. So how and where do you get all these strips and squares of such variety?

What wonderful organization you have. I have drawers, too, but when I open them there are just pieces of fabrics, not neatly cut strips. I want your drawers.

it sounds so easy....but the beaury of your quilts reflect the wide range of organisation
