I finished this top in March 2013 so it is time to finish it. I basted it yesterday and will quilt it on my straight stitch machine.
I also chose a backing for a baby quilt and pressed it. I have it hanging over the bar on my longarm and will probably load it today.
I'm thinking about making a Trip Around the World with the 30s reproduction fabrics. The solid colors aren't the authentic ones, just some that I have on hand that are close enough. It was a snowy day yesterday so it was a good day to work on quilts.

That will make an awesome baby quilt!!!
A 30's TAW will be interesting. No snow here, but they did threaten freezing rain.
Beautiful quilt! I am anxious to see that one quilted! And a scrappy trip quilt with 30's fabric is a great idea. I have been playing with 1.5" scraps.... quilt to come soon!
I love the colors in the top you are about to quilt! I wish there were more pictures of it. I think it probably would be my favorite x + quilt! Perhaps you'll show us more once it is quilted, big "hint, hint," smile. I guess once you've worked with it, things become more routine for you, but I am always blown away by your color choices! Well, stay cheerful in your snow. I'm pretty home bound with a painful neurological condition, so I get to where I mainly don't notice the weather. I hope it's not raining tomorrow, though, because I really need to get out! Have a great day sewing! Magistra13 at yahoo dot com

A 30s TAW .... Wow! Love that idea!
A 30s TAW will be an interesting comparison to the others you have made.
Another wonderful quilt! It is an explosion of color! I have a box of vintage 30's fabric that needs made into some quilts. I guess that is on my list of quilts to make!
I love all the color in this one!
I love those x&+ quilts and I am sure this will be gorgeous. It will be fun to see those 30s fabrics done up.
TAW fabrics looks my stash of calico's. Not as far back as from the 30's though. Anxious to see how you design it. I so need to sew up my calico's.... Always fun to see you bring out a top from the past and finish it. You are so good at that.

Wow, your x and + quilt looks gorgeous! I'm looking forward to seeing it in other photos soon.
Love the asterisk quilt, and in my opinion, any day is a great day to quilt!
Love your x and + quilt!
ARGH!! Your X's and plus' REALLY makes me want to find MINE that I've been unable to locate since I moved!! So many times I've wanted to work on it but can't since I cannot FIND IT! Maybe soon--yours is beautiful and was what inspired me to begin my own!
Wonderful x and plus quilt. 2013 is pretty new compared to my wips. Glad this one is getting some attention
Love the bright colors in you x and + quilt top. Bet is will be fabulous once it is quilted!! It will be fun to see the 30's colors in a TAW. Your other ones have been quite different with all the wonderful color schemes. Aunt Grace's are my first fabric collection fabric when I started quilting---will always be a favorite!!
I'm really looking forward to your next TAW using those delicious 30's repro fabrics :)
I've ignored the temptation to make an "X and +" quilt for a couple years, but your colorful one makes starting one so appealing.
I don't think I've ever seen a somber version of this pattern. The bold colors are perfect, and yours is a beauty, Wanda.
In agreement with the comment above from Magistra--I hope you give us a front view photo of this one when it's finished.
I forget the name of the pattern of the quilt you are basting, but, what a feast for the eyes! I can't wait to see your TATW in those 30s prints.....that is going to be a great homage!
What a beautiful top... Love that pattern every time I come across it.
Awesome baby quilt! LUCKY baby : )
I want to make a grandmother's flower garden from 1930's repro fabric. Do you have a recommendation for a good source for this type of fabric?
