Cool air, rain.......

I really thought I would make it to the sewing machine but it ended up being a gardening day.  We got 4" of rain between midnight and 6 a.m. yesterday morning.  It was a perfect time for digging up and splitting hostas with a friend.  She helped me dig out some volunteer trees too.  I pulled weeds while they were easy to pull from the wet soil and transplanted a few hostas to new locations.
I also got batteries for my battery powered lawnmower and took them to my son for him to wire them and fit them in the case that fits into the mower.  My dad gave me this mower when they moved 8 years ago and I used it for several years until the batteries wouldn't hold a charge any more.  I decided it is time to use it again.
I did get one block cut out but haven't decided what the center will be so I didn't get it sewn.
It went down to 52 degrees last night (Thurs.) compared to the 98 high on Wed. afternoon.  Our 3 days in the high 90s is unusual for this early in the summer and I hope it isn't an indication of what our summer will be like.

The temperature dropped here too because of tons of rain last night. We had hail too. But it is good you were able to get some gardening done too. Loving the newest block. Summer tree by Philip Jacobs is one of my favorites. In fact, I am using that one in a new project I will be starting next week.

Rain! I haven't had any in almost 3 weeks and the heat just won't stop. I sure envy you the rain and the cooler temperatures.

So glad that your temps finally cooled down. Wow! If we had four inches of rain in the short of time our entire town would be flooded!

Since I am to the east of you, your weather heads my way. I am getting your left over rain right now.

Love the fabrics in your block.

Holy moly, that's a lotta rain!

It's good to pace yourself in the high heat.

The new block looks great, so far!

For a second there, I thot you had cut the block with the mower. :)

No matter how cool it is right now, I'm having my a/c put in my bedroom window today. I refuse to be caught trying to sleep in the heat that was here on Tues and Wed. It was impossible!

Just a little thank you for posting about your weather. We usually get the same a few hours after you so your post is a little preview. Thanks :) The cooler weather is so welcome.

With our highs this week only into the 60s, I too am hoping that it is not indicative of our summer ahead.

The garden does seem to take up the time once you get out there.

Watching your block development process ...

Out of curiosity, what kind of cutting mat is that underneath the strips?

More rain is expected today. Maybe it is time to build an ark. I will help make quilts for the ark. LOL Yes, it was a good time to pull weeds etc in the garden. I am going out in a bit and doing the same.

Glad you got some cooling rain. Send it on down here. LOL And yes, you do have to take advantage of that easy weed pulling time.

While you all were pulling weeds, I have been cleaning out my garage.
After all that rain we were flooded and I now have everyones mulch in my grass. It took more than 12 hours for the water to go away. Knowing I couldn't go out, do you think I sewed...nope, I watched the debris swirl around my street. I'm only 3 miles away from you , Wanda.

We had that crazy hot weather too, and now cool for the last 2 days. Love the color combo for the block.
