The other feathered star
We were given hand outs for 2 distinctly different types of Feathered Stars. I made one at the workshop and wanted to make the other just for the knowledge of construction. This one is far from perfect but I have the general idea of the places I need to be more careful if I did another one. That is a BIG IF too! The background in the large print is a rich royal purple and it looks very blue on my monitor.

It is beautiful! I have to say that if I remember correctly, when I took Marsha's class, I don't think I completed the whole star. It is in a project bag somewhere. Maybe I ought to finish it. I really do love a feathered star, but they certainly aren't the easiest of blocks to piece.
Another great star...

I know this isn't your style of block, but well done anyway. Sometimes a change of pace does us good. Great looking block. Chris
a star like that is a real skill builder! it's beautiful!
I made a Christmas Table Topper with a large feathered star in the middle and had trouble with it, it came out in the end but not without a little but of seam ripper involved!

Wow I am impressed. I don't even try triangles!
Hi Wanda,
Very nice job on the feathered star. Lots of tiny pieces for sure. I've only made one feathered star, and even though it was a 20-inch block for a medallion, it gave me grief!

Last time I made a feathered star was in the 90s for a group project and they didn't let my star join the club.
You go, girl!
It's a beauty! And, the background fabric you picked is just perfect. It looks as though it's already been quilted. I don't blame you for not wanting to make another one, since they are a lot of work for ONE block! lol
Looks perfect to me. Color is gorgeous on my monitor. I can see why you say" IF if did another one". Precision stitching for Feathered Star is for those who really love it. Great reward when completed.

The colors you chose are gorgeous! This is my favorite block of the two. This would make a lovely candle mat.
Such intricate sewing! You do such a great job. I haven't tried anything with such small pieces yet, may need to get more new glasses. Another great one.
Well, if it is not perfect, I could not tell! It is so eye catching, I venture to say that no one would notice if it wasn't perfect, I sure didn't! I love it!
That block is so beautiful -- the fabrics, the design -- everything!
Very pretty!
That's a beautiful block. I love the flower centered in the middle. I never think about doing that when I start cutting fabrics.
I think that the feathered star is the most beautiful of all the traditional blocks. I love the flower in the center of yours. Nice work!
IF would be the operative word for me as well. LOVELY to look at but I suspect I would tire of the precision very quickly (or else it would take a verrrrrrrrrrrrry long time to make enough blocks to create a flimsy).
the colors are fantastic!! looks great wanda!
It IS a beautiful block, but I don't see it anywhere in my future. :) I have enough trouble with squares.
I love the fabrics you selected. Very regal!
