Some sewing, some nature.........

I sewed a little bit yesterday.  I have 8 more pieces to add onto each row to finish the bottom half.

I spent a few hours reading finishing a murder mystery.  Now I need to look for another book to read.  There are plenty of them waiting to be re-shelved.

The asters are just starting to bloom.  They are so much darker than this though.  Sunlight washes out the color.

This little group is in the shade and they look bluer but are still lighter than looking at them with the naked eye.

I'm not sure if these are petunias or if they had a different name.  They were a really deep intense purple all summer and now have started fading.

My friends shared some compost with me and she mentioned they had tomato plants coming up in their flower pots.  Lo and behold I have one too.  It looks like the Roma variety.

A few days ago I got a card from my friend Julie.  She uses her scraps and makes her own note cards.  I don't have any of those fabrics; maybe I should save them for a crazy pieced block...or maybe I'll just save the card and enjoy them that way.  Thanks Julie!

I have the same asters opening. Great progress on the quilt. You reminded me I have to make some more cards- I can never keep up with the demand.

love your tumblers or thimbles whichever name you have them go by - I have been feeling like making one again but well hold off awhile on starting anything new

Good to see you are managing some sewing and gardening while resting in between with a book - keep it up Wanda :)

I was looking at my tumbler template yesterday, I bought it from MSQC to use with 5" charm squares. I used it once and liked it, but yours look smaller than mine, maybe 3.5" from the Go dies? I've seen them made from 2.5" squares too and I think no matter what size, these always look nice.

Wanda ~ You still accomplish more than the average person rehabing from a pace maker surgery. Happy you for you.

Asters and I would say those are petunia's blooming so pretty in your late summer days. And I see you are at 84 degrees as I write this. Warmer for you and way cooler for us finally, we woke up to a nice blanket of snow on the mountain tops and it looks glorious up there. AND best of all we can see BLUE SKY and PUFFY WHITE CLOUDS again. The smoke literally hid those beautiful skies for 3 months. 39 degrees over night and a high of 47 maybe to day.

I've always been a fan of asters, lot of flowers to enjoy, the other deep purple plant I also one had in the garden, I can't remember what they were but don't think they were petunia, but I could be wrong on this.

Glad your sewing! Your petunia- like flowers are actually calibrachoa--they've been all the rage for the last several years, so many different colors, and are better self- cleaning plants than petunias.

Wanda - I am a reader too. Sometimes it's hard to decide whether to read or sew! I would love to hear what you are reading when you mention 'reading' in your blog. Reading is a stimulating activity which does not tax the body too much!
