It was a crew of 2 that arrived at 9:45 a.m. yesterday and they had to tear out the old carpet first. At 5 p.m. they were exhausted and still had this wall on the left and around the fireplace to finish. I told them it was OK with me if they wanted to finish this morning and they were happy to leave.
I was surprised when I saw a piece of the carpet close up that it is black and white twisted, taupe and white twisted and plain white. I don't know what percentage of each but I'm really happy with it. I thought it might be darker than my old carpet but it looks to be close. It is made of 50% recycled bottles spun into fiber and very soft.
I sorted 1.5" strips all day. I was looking for the ones that I had 3 or more of. This is one container repacked with one of each of hundreds of batiks, 2 layers in there.
This is the bunch I will be working with. The roll to the left is 2 alike of many batiks, the other larger roll is anywhere from 3 to 8 strips of each fabric.

A very nice color carpet. Love the twisted colors. It will give the room a softer look than just solid gray. The batik strips are beautiful. I wonder what you have up your sleeve for that box.
The carpet looks beautiful! It was good that you had a purposeful project to work on. Getting those strips organized filled your time so when you can get back into the studio you will be ready!
I learn a lot from your posts - what a clever way to sort and store fabric strips!

I like the carpet -they make carpet out of so many things now don't they. Love all those batiks!
Interesting that the carpet appears gray in the long shot, while actually multi colored up close. Have fun with all those strips!!
What a pretty room. I love the lavender walls. And I'm happy to hear a progress report on you pacemaker and that you're on the mend. Looking forward to seeing what you create with those batiks!
The carpet looks great...love the soft look. Now what will those strips become????
I really like those blended/twisted colors in the carpet.
Great use of your "down" time - sorting those strips of fabric.
How perfect that your carpeting has black and white? Zebra! Very nice looking!
Love your carpeting & the color of your walls.
The carpet looks great against the pretty purple walls.
Love your carpet! Perfect color to blend with all your quilts... I hope you are feeling stronger every day.
The carpet looks fabulous against those wonderful walls.
Thinking of you during your recovery process.
Looks like great neutral flooring! I need to go carpet shopping soon, and hadn't a clue they had "recycled" carpeting! Very cool! And I bet you had fun sorting those fabrics! That's one of my most favorite things to do!
Love the carpet......
I am a blog follower, but not a very good commenter, although I love getting your posts, you get so much done. And I love that you are not afraid of color!
So glad you are on the mend, and so quickly. Take care.
I'm glad you didn't get wore out with the carpet layers there yesterday. I would make your guest take off their shoes on your new carpet.
Getting new carpet that you have waited for years for... It needs to be babied. (*._.*).
Your carpet complements your purple walls. Thanks for the photo, it sure looks lovely AND I know when you and 'your helpful family' get all your furniture back in, it will feel, like the new room it has become. Recouping now is a great time for you to go into your living room and enjoy your new carpet, more than working in your studios.
Sending wishes for your continuing recovery, and don't even think of moving any furniture back into your living room. I know I don't need to tell you that, just had to anyway.

Your carpeting is looking great. I did not know they could use recycled plastic bottles to make it. Hope you're feeling better!
I do like the colour of your new carpet - looks good with the wall colour. Lots of lovely strips of batik in your boxes, do you keep stocks of different cut widths of your batiks ready for future projects?
