A friend came over to sew and use a design wall so I used my Studio die cutter to cut 3" tumblers out of flannel scraps. While I watched TV I sorted them into piles of like fabrics.
After they were sorted by fabric I pulled out the ones that there was only one of, two, three, four and five of. That left the 3 bottom rows where there was more than 5 of each fabric.
I started sewing two rows so I could figure out how many it will take to make a row about 60" long. Now I will cut some 6" tumblers from larger pieces of flannel and some 9" from even larger pieces. I'm hoping rows of all three sizes will look good in one quilt.

Great idea for using these fabrics together. Interesting idea to mix up the sizes. You always seem to think outside the box. You hold the crown for creative ideas:)
Using different sizes of the same shape is a pretty interesting idea. Can't wait to see the results.
I'm such a fabric junkie that I immediately wanted to pet these fabrics. I love the fabric designs and colors, should make a beautiful quilt and I'm excited to see how you are going to combine all these sizes.
love a tumbler quilt - I have one out in the camper that stays out there - I have so many in the house I don't even notice it when I leave one or two out there! I have two flannel quilt kits to make and would like to get to both of them this year - that is why I am trying to finish a few things already started. I have not worked with flannel quilts before is it best to spray starch when pressing before cutting?
What a comforting-richly warm quilt top those flannels will make!
Using the different sizes is going to be fun. Looking forward to seeing the progress.
I love plaids, and they make a quilt look so cozy, not to mention they are flannel! You haven't made a quilt yet that hasn't looked good, so I am sure your idea of 3 different sizes of tumblers will work too!
Love the 'tumblers' you are working with. The rich colors come through on the screen just great. I can almost feel the warmth of your flannels.

Exuberant Flannel? Fuzzy Tumblers? Hmmm.....
I made a tumbler quilt but not out of flannel. What a good idea: lots of leftovers here. Couldn't do it without a GO.
Dear Wanda,
you are soooo quickly to cut the blocks.
Do you have a help to cut so quickly?
Thanls
