I have had these mug rugs for myself layered with backing and batting for over 3 years. I made a set like them for a cousin's daughter for her bridal shower and knew I wanted some for my red kitchen too.
Both of them have the black beater fabric on the back. I also intended to make a valance out of that fabric for the window by the sink. It would probably only take an hour.......

You're the Mug Rug Queen!!
Thanks for the inspiration this week on mug rugs. I pulled all my pieced and partial mug rugs out yesterday and worked on them after after doing a few errands. I now have 10 of them almost finished. Love your red ones!
I just love that fabric- the prints and the fact they are not pastel. I think a kitchen quilt or wall hanging with that fabric would be great!
You are inspiring me to make some mug rugs or placemats to give as presents.
As my Mom would say "that's a good job done!" Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Super cute, Wanda! Isn't if funny how our own projects get put on the back burner? Glad you finished them, so you can enjoy them! Happy Thanksgiving!
You have a red kitchen? I should have known. Now I'm really jealous.
Happy thanksgiving.
I am so impressed with all these mug rugs you've been making. Number one - they are each and every one a treasure, and number two - I know exactly how much trouble they are. It looks like it would be easier, but it's not always easy to get those small projects finished correctly.
Hi Wanda! I love your mug rugs. The fabrics and colors are outstanding.
PS My son lives in Sandwich, my daughter in Rochelle and I live in Ridott (close to Freeport). Small world!
So glad you also make something for yourself on a regular basis! I saw something in a quilt magazine today about mug rugs, but the patterns all had buttons send on the mug rugs for decoration. I thought that was just about the worst idea. It seems to me having buttons on a mug rug will make it uneven and bumpy, so your cup or glass might actually fall over when you put it down if you're not very careful.
Happy Thanksgiving, Wanda! Love the mug rugs.
