Progress on quilting.......
I finished the ditch quilting on the fractured quilt last night.
My original plan was to stitch 2 lines on the light colored fabrics.
Then I remembered there were some really skinny ends on some of the wedges and it wouldn't really have room for 2 rows of stitching. I only worked on this part for about an hour and then gave up for the night.
I also appliqued 4 more circle centers on the spin blocks so now I have 9 done and can sew the first wallhanging together.
The coneflowers are about 4-5 feet tall in most of the backyard garden. There are a few in the shade that are about 3 feet tall. I saw the first hummingbird yesterday and he was checking out the coneflowers that weren't quite open yet. I have 2 hanging baskets with red flowers and he didn't go near them.
We got almost 2" of rain on Saturday, .35" in the morning and 1.6" at night. Then last night we got another shower but it was too dark to go out and check the rain gauge. I'm not going to take a chance of running into a raccoon or an opposum out there in the dark.

seems you are getting plenty of rain too. My coneflowers are doing excellent this year - I wish I had more of them now, the hummingbirds have been coming to my tiger lilies but I haven't' seen them at the coneflowers
Lately we've been encountering an armadillo in our yard.
In our yard you would encounter rabbits, deer or squirrels. I suppose raccoons and possums may also be out there, but I've not seen any. This morning we are getting some much-needed showers - a very gentle, steady rain. I saw where you folks in Illinois has quite the storms - hope you're all safe!
No matter how much you accomplish in your studio's, it is always way more than me, and fun to see. . .
Surprised to hear you saw your first hummingbird. A week before Mother's Day ours return and I just bought another feeder last week. So that is 4 now to keep them humming.
Your coneflowers are unbelievably tall. It has to be your rain... Enjoyed seeing the photo with the dove.

I didn't know that coneflowers were tall at all. I left England when I was 22 and I have never seen them here in Venezuela. I always thought coneflowers were the same height as Dahlias. I have only ever seen them as applique in quilting!
I like the way you are quilting that zig zag. I was wondering how you would do it.
That is a lot of rain! I surely wish you could share it. The garden is benefiting greatly from it.
I hope that rain is coming our way. We really need it!
We've had more rain this year that in the past three or four. Thank God! Still having to water some, but the plants are all much happier.
