I saw a brightly colored truck pulling into my driveway and couldn't tell where it was from. The man got out and brought this edible centerpiece to the door. It is from one of my daughter's life long friends. She spent many hours here playing as a child and is a real sweetheart. I can't wait to unwrap it and start munching.
My double vision wasn't as bad yesterday so I decided to make a batch of Chex mix. It is always a big hit with the family.
Then I decided I needed to bake a double batch of my favorite shortbread cookies (recipe here). Since it was a double batch I used my mixer to mix them instead of cutting the butter in with a pastry blender. Now I'm done in the kitchen and the kids can take over for the weekend.

What a sweet gift. I can't see what's in it but it looks pretty. You can always find something to do!
Happy Thanksgiving!
You seem to be getting along quite well -- baking already!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours from far off Australia!
Happy Thanksgiving, Wanda! Your post pictures are making me hungry. The centerpiece is beautiful and I definitely have to try the shortbread cookie recipe. Thanks for sharing. Today, I'm driving to Mars, PA to spend Thanksgiving with my daughter and her family. I wanted to share a Thanksgiving Quilt poem with you that I wrote. It's on my blog. gladysgab.blogspot.com Enjoy your day!
Happy Thanksgiving!
That centerpiece is gorgeous! With all that baking, I bet your house smelled wonderful yesterday.
the edible arrangement is such a great idea. It is so pretty but it won't just sit there and wilt. It will be enjoyed in several ways.
I love homemade chex mix. No wonder it is such a hit with your family.
Yummy... Love Edible Arrangements! Wishing you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving, Wanda!
have a happy day, sounds like you are on your way to recovery - the fruit arrangement looks yummy - so nice to receive.
Yesterday, while getting groceries, I saw some shortbread cookies, and thought to myself, "I should look up a recipe and bake some instead of buying store-bought."
Thanks for the recipe - now I don't even need to crack a cookbook for Thanksgiving!
That sounds like a good plan, letting the kids take over. It will be a while before that happens around here though. Haha. Have a wonderful day.
Wow you seem to have recovered nice. Edible arrangements are always nice. Nice to eat. Thanks for the link for the shortbread cookies. It's one of hubs favorites. I hope you have a wonderful day!!!!! Hugs.
I would love that kind of colorful truck pulling up just as much as I love seeing a delivery from Martha's Flowers. Some things are just FUN!
Happy Holiday, Wanda. It's all uphill now, I can tell.
Happy Thanksgiving.
Hugs and prayers for your continued recovery.
I had to smile when I read your post today. Not just because of the lovely and tasty Edible arrangement, but because you seem to be back in the swing of things. You are a wonderful positive role model for the rest of us. Thank you for being you. And enjoy the 'take over' this weekend. You deserve it.
So happy that ALL your family will be with you for Thanksgiving. And taking over in the kitchen. Give them my best wishes also. I so agree you need some R&R for awhile.
A gift of fruit and so artistically arranged. Couldn't have been better, especially for you. I'm sure it will taste as good as it looks.
Chex mix and cookies ~ yet for the kids... your stamina is amazing. Take good care and wishes for a lovely day.

Love the fruit. Have a lovely Thanksgiving with your family.
Well, as if your quilting wasn't enough inspiration to keep me in UFOs for the rest of my life, those food pictures give me incentive to be in the kitchen eating, if not cooking. (LOL) Wanda, you are always a big motivator. Thank you!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. A gift basket, lovely thoughtful giver, and you deserve this so much. Cheers from Jean
