Finishing, cutting.......

I finished the 2 mug rugs that were just waiting for backings.
Staged view and formal portrait.

This is one of the larger ones, 10 and 1/4" x 8 and 3/4".

I think it will be nice to have a stack of these for guests to choose one to take home.
I should have used black thread on the mug rug too.  I never thought of it as a matched set until they were done.  Isn't hindsight wonderful?

I have been making the mug rugs with patchwork that is playtime fun and leftovers from other piecing.  Here are 2 drawers still full of pieces to play with.

We woke up to this yesterday morning but it is almost all gone already.  It is supposed to be in the 40s for 2 days so it will all be gone.
The first snow that sticks on the bushes makes me run for the camera.
I use my Studio die cutter several days a week.  Last night I cut 6" finished triangles from flannel left over from another quilt.
This is the variety.  I have several pieces that go with these that I can use for borders.  I will do a piano keys border too.  This will be another fast quilt.

Oh, look at all that beautiful snow! We don't see it in Australia where I live. Love your fabrics and mats too!

Your mug rugs are so nice. Great idea to have guests choose one. Those scrap drawers look interesting and fun! Can't wait to see what you make with those triangles. I may copy your idea because I have lots of flannels left over from other projects. As for the snow. It's pretty at first, but the novelty soon wears off - at least it does for me.

Wish I was one of your guests. Lovely Mug Rugs Wanda.
Oh how great to have a draw full of great bits to stitch together and the triangles will be handy too.
The snow looks beautiful. It was very hot and steamy here today.

Wow, you have been busy, my friend!! Love all the mug rugs! We had our first snow back in October when we had the week long blackout. No snow since, I can definitely wait for it too!

Hindsight is a frequent guest in my house. It always seems to be smarter than I am.
You're definitely prepared for company if you have enough mug rugs for them to select a favorite. Nice fabric variety.

This is the kind of winter I could enjoy--pleasant enough to melt whatever snow dares to fall.

Lucky guests that visit your house. The snow picture could be a Xmas card.

Love your mug rugs... and what a great idea for your guests to choose their own! I'm going to keep that in mind for the next time I have visitors.

The mug rugs are fabulous -- love the idea of guests choosing one to take home.
What a great idea for using up orphan blocks and bits. I think I may just have to make a few of those for fun.
Thankfully, we're yet to have any snow. I'm keeping my fingers crossed it stays that way until at least the beginning of January.

Wanda-
Your mugs rugs are beautiful. I just wanted to pop by and tell you how much I've enjoyed following your blog again this year, although I don't always leave a comment. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Looking forward to the coming year reading your blog!

I love your mug rugs and when I get up to doing some sewing again will also make some for gifts and they also will make a great hostess gift. I also see that you are enjoying your cutting machine.

I am home again after 3 months of recovering from surgery. There is no place like home!!! I have missed reading your blogs.

Wanda,

Love the black, white and orange quilt! Stunning! Now I have to catch up on what you have been doing for the last six weeks since I was out of commission.

I decided to make some mugs rugs for Christmas too. I made the mistake of making them about the size of a coaster and did I have a time connecting that binding with little room to minipulate it under the needle. Next time I am definitely going you size! I will post them after the recipients get them for their Christmas gifts. :)
