It was a chocolate chip cookie night...........

I was feeling a little down yesterday being the adult to my dad who is like a child now.  I decided I needed cookies!  And what better than cookies with chocolate.

I trimmed the little squares I had made the night before.  This group is 2.5" square.

Some of them were large enough to cut 3" squares from so I will start another little container for that size.

I also have a few 2" squares that I made way back when I started these.  They may all end up in the same project.

reading your posts are the chocolate chip cookies for me! Always uplifting, always inspiring, thank you (and calorie-free!) The batiks are wonderful.
Parenting our parents is impossibly hard and intricate and draining. We have to remember to care for ourselves and breatheeeeee

Yummmmm! I thought I could smell cookies baking. Maybe just my mind wanting some. I have got the stuff to do them maybe today I will make some too. Parenting an Adult is very hard. I am doing it to. My husband and my mother both at the same time. Hang in there. The blocks are so cute. Anxoius to see how they evolve. Chris

Dang! I was craving chocolate chip cookies yesterday (searched for recipes on line & everything) but in the end, I took a nap instead of baking. (Dinner was leftovers - yay.)

I am sorry things are difficult for you right now. I am sure you are doing a good job, though!
The cookies look delicious - I always turn to ice-cream, cookies, chocolate etc when I am feeling down. I hope they made you feel a little better!

The chocolate chip cookies look delicious. I can't imagine what you're going through with your Dad. mine died at the age of 52--3 yrs younger than I am.
The squares are tiny. do you sew those bits together as you're doing your quilts?

I love waking up and reading your blog. I have been so down about my mother this week. All she can say I "I don't know". It breaks my heart. I know you are dealing with the same issues. I did crumb blocks yesterday afternoon. I will try cookies today!!

sometimes we really need chocolate chip cookies don't we! Enjoy them. It can be hard at times this role reversal that we play with our parents - I think that is why I have a hard time visiting my mom and I always feel totally exhausted after a days visit - I think it is more sadness than anything that makes me so tired after a visit.

I love your little blocks. I started some small pineapple blocks last year and I wonder what I will do with them and if I will continue to work on them or make something from the measly 4 that I made.

Those cookies look delicious. I am of the opinion that chocolate is never wrong! ;~D

I love all the little blocks. I can't wait to see what you do with them.

When things get tough with your dad, just remember that I'm sending you both virtual hugs and thinking of you both. I bet I'm not the only one, either.

There are lots of us out here who know what it's like for you with your Dad...and send you both our love. Chocolate is always good for the spirits...and playing with delicious batiks is the best therapy I know!

That's what I need - chocolate chip cookies! I can understand the frustration of dealing with an aging parent. Glad you were able to lift yourself out of that and enjoy your little crumb blocks and cookies. I have a couple of containers full of different sizes of those too. But the need to do something with them is not in me right now. So I'll just keep making them and enjoy watching what you are going to do with yours.

Your blocks are so cute~such a great idea for the little bits! Your cookies look so good I almost could smell them--something tells me cookies may be in my future. My thoughts are with you with your parenting struggles--wish I had some wisdom for you.

Hi Wanda,
I love how you make your tiniest scrap blocks look exciting! No duds in the bunch.

Homemade cookies always brighten my mood, too. Hope your dad is doing well.
Take care.

Hi Wanda,
I love the small scrappy squares that you have created from all your beautiful bits. I will have to go and look at your previous post to see how you started making them.

My own parents are still in pretty good health but we can certainly relate to the issue of aging parents. My mother in law has Alzheimer's and she has lost much of her language and ability to communicate. Yesterday was her 88th birthday- she lives about 1000 miles away. My sister in law will have gone to wish her happy birthday and my husband is going this coming weekend for a visit. Chocolate chip cookies sound like a lovely balm right now. My father in law always said that getting older was not for wusses!
Hope you had a terrific day today and enjoy a nice cup of coffee/ tea and cookies.
Warmest regards,
Anna
