The dreaded errand day.........

I had a bunch of errands to run yesterday morning and then I was off to a birthday lunch with the sisters-in-law.  Then it was time to call Dad to plan the evening meal.  Oh yeah, there was a nap in there too.  It is a good thing I set the timer because I was out in dreamland.  Between the time I call Dad (4) and the time I pick up my brother (5:20), I pulled out a pile of batik scraps.  I have to call Dad at 4 because he has to have a note saying he won't be eating there down to the dining room by 4:15.
I have no idea what this will turn into.  I just need to cut lots of diamonds and then play with them.

Sometimes errand days can be fun, depending on the errands. But how nice you had just enough time to get out some batiks to play with and cut. Diamond quilts are wonderful and this will be a beauty.

When you start sewing your diamonds, could you add some tips on how you match them up so the seams match?

Love your sense of color and fun.

Love the diamond design. I did the same thing a year ago- pulled out all the batik scraps I didn't care for, and cut them into diamonds. I loved quilt when it was done- but not all the challenges of matching all the diamond corners, and keeping the quilt flat with all the bias seams.

I called the completed quilt "Joseph's Coat" because it brought to mind Joseph's coat of many colors.

It feels like "quilting season" has started again with the shorter days and cooler evenings.

Ooh, I wanna play, too !

I saw the neatest quilt, YEARS AGO, where they played with values crossing each other in strips of diamonds. I've always wanted to do something like that since.......so many ideas, so many hours wasted at the computer looking at other people's good use of their time !

Working with diamonds is always fun! I can't wait to see what you come up with! In those batiks, they'll be fabulous.

That is looking interesting already!
I am like you...I cram all my errands together just to get them all over within one day.

I have to tell you I am paying attention to some of your advice. Before I went to Quilt Expo where I planned on purchasing fabric from some of the vendors, I remembered you mentioning not long ago how we all do not buy the dark darks or the lights enough. So I scanned over my stash and definitely saw that imbalance of colors. So that is what I focused on when I got there. I wavered on a few things but got some great fabric in those tones. Hopefully it will improve my work too! So thank you once again.
