Look at the mess I can make

Can you see the mile high pile of fabrics to the right of the machine? It kind of blends into the fabric on the shelves behind it. I was looking for a smaller piece of the turquoise fabric that is laying on top of the blocks. I was sure there was a smaller piece somewhere so I wouldn't have to cut into the bigger piece for the one last block I need to make. This pile is my "quarter yard or smaller" pile of batiks. No, I didn't find what I was looking for. .
I searched for the other fabric I needed too and since it changes from pink to orange to blue It was hard to spot in the pile of light colored batiks. On the third time going through them I found it. Now I can finish this wallhangingI think that as long as I have the "quarter yard or less" pile out I should sort it into colors. That might make my next search a little easier.
I hope today is a sewing day, not another searching day. I have had enough of them for awhile.

Quarter yard or less as opposed to scraps? I just have scraps and "other," but it's getting unwieldy now. A quarter yard sounds like a good division. Hope you get to sew a lot today!

What a colorful "mess". All of those colors make me happy;) Love your pieced heart blocks too.

Sorting fabrics is another one of those pleasant parts of playing with your fabric collection!

so many pretty batiks - you have a heck of a lot more quarter yard or less pieces than I do and I thought I had a lot that size.

I love your 'orderly' messes.

Sorting and searching sometimes results in ideas for another quilt... maybe that is why I put those tasks off as long as possible -- my UFO pile is already too high!! I even get ideas looking at your "mess" which in my eyes is pure fodder!

Any reason to fondle fabric is a good enough reason for me! What a luscious pile!

What a pretty mess! Your fabric mess is like a candy store for quilters! LOL

I'm sure you could get a lot of quilters to help with that sorting. Too bad we all live so far apart!

Sorting and fondling batiks are both marvelous ways to pass the time, except when you would rather be stitching.

Hope you find a balance between the two!

Looks like organized chaos to me. I look at it this way, you really don't need an excuse to look at all the pretty fabrics. Just go through them. I love how it looks not messy at all, but so glad you found what you needed.

I love all those batiks. They are so much fun to play with. Did you get any sewing done after all?

Wouldn't it be lovely if we could all join in to help with sorting!

Heh heh. That pile wouldn't last two seconds with my cats around.

your "mess" makes my "organized" look sloppy!

Hi Wanda,
Keeping warm?

Your fabric scraps = too yummy for words.

At least in your "mess" there is a clear spot to lay out the blocks you're working on!

Your photos of fabric/projects/ or even messes, always make me smile. Even when messy, fabric is lovely! 8-)

The annoying thing is that the scrap is there somewhere, and tomorrow, when you're looking for something else, you'll find it! Too late!
