Cutting and third layout...................

All three sets needed more pieces.  I actually cut a few more than I needed so if I need to make a substitute block I'm all set.  I ended up finishing the 2 partial blocks and made 6 new blocks last night.  I haven't pressed them yet so they haven't made it to the design wall.

This is the assortment of new pieces plus the leftovers from the day before.  I had a strip of fabric that I had previously die cut 6 triangles of each fabric from and I put the ends of the strips back on the die to cut 4 more of each of each fabric.

I came up with one more layout and it reminds me of the hungry caterpillar story.  I first thought earthworms when I made it.  I think the diagonal shown yesterday is still my favorite.

I can imagine this third layout if the "worms" were different colors (a variety of prints, though). It would take a lot of design wall planning, though.....For this assortment of prints, I like yesterday's diagonal, too.

The diagonal layout is my favorite too. The worm layout seems like you would have to work with an even number of blocks or the design would look incomplete. I think it is a fun layout.

I do like the diagonal layout, too, myself;))) You have a nice group to work with --always good to have extras too...
40 here and blue blue skies--hoping for an outside walk later on

I love the Hungry Caterpillar analogy and this layout would be amazing for a child's quilt with the book given alongside. For myself, I love the long diagonals from yesterday's post.

I remember that book - I bet a lot of kids have read that one. About 4 years ago when I volunteered at the library there was a huge cut out taped to a wall in the kids section. There are so may ways you could do lay out for this.

I agree on the diagonal layout. Fun to see what you can do with a simple shape.

That's a block that you could make all of the options! It's hard to choose. I am madly in love with the sparkly triangle quilt.
