Cutting, playing................................

Finally I got some triangles cut from the black plaid to try some layouts with the green 6" finished triangles.  Originally this was my idea, all of the triangles marching in the same direction.  I can rotate the photo and see the triangles in all 4 different positions.

I haven't searched through the green triangles to see how many of each print is cut so I tried this layout with some that have 2 and 2 in addition to the 4 alike.

I cut some of the black with white dots too to try a zig zag layout.  This could run horizontal also which might be better than this vertical layout.  No decision made.

We had very light rain off and on yesterday but got less than a tenth of an inch total.  I was out while it was sprinkling to take some photos.  I wasn't sure if these hydrangea blooms were going to make it to the deeper coloration.  The last hot spell wasn't kind to them but they bounced back with the rain 2 weeks ago.

This view from the porch shows the color in the front flower beds without showing a lot of the weeds.  I did pull out a lot of weeds in the last 3 days but there are so many more.

I was surprised how much the color has faded on this Coleus plant.  It is more fall colored now.

Just gorgeous hydrangea colors, Wanda--mine are just turning a light tinge of pink with these cooler temps--so pretty aren't they? Beautiful view in your front garden...;)))
53 here this morning--sun coming up over the hill and looks to be another lovely day ahead.
I did finish another string block center quilting on Sunrise, Sunset this morning with my coffee...only one more of these to go and then I can move to the surrounding triangles...it's moving right along...little by little...;)))

Looks like you have several options for those triangles. I do like the addition of the dotted fabric. I have to get out this weekend and at least get the thistle pulled before it goes to seed. I don't know why I have so much thistle this year. I keep on top of it most of the time so it must be coming from someone else's yard. We are getting some light rain today, but not enough.

I love that black plaid! Again, your pretty garden photos coordinate with your blocks. :) The front of your house is lovely.

The picture from your porch looks great with the wet sides walks……too bad you didn’t receive just a bit more rain.

I really, really like the three layer zig zag layout - pure fun! Fall is starting to happen here, too. The light has shifted and the colors are slowly beginning to do just what your coleus has done.

HSTs are just the most versatile of block unit shapes to work with!
Your hydrangeas and other flowers are certainly saying 'autumn is here'.

Hugs!

That plaid is a terrific with the prints you’ve got going. It really shows them off. And enjoyed seeing all your options you are contemplating with this one.

I like that plaid with the prints. My coleus is one of the plants I gave my daughter and I think she immediately neglected it LOL - she had sent me a photo of her porch and swing and the plant was nearby and looked dreadful - oh well not like it was an expensive plant
