This quilt top is next in line for basting to prepare for ditch quilting. I needed to find a batik for backing yesterday. It is 37 x 58" so I need almost 1 3/4 yards of fabric.
The first place I look is the 2 shelves of multicolor and large design batiks. Most of them are hard to use because the color changes so often in them.
When I first look through the stacks I'm looking for larger yardage pieces and pull them out. The one one the left is more blue, not green as it looks here.
I think I used the one in the center for a backing of another wall hanging, maybe a colorwash.
Since the Crooked Cobblestone wall hanging top has a lot of orange and green I think the one on the right is the best choice.
Today I need to cut a piece of batting for it and prepare it for basting. If it's a good day, maybe I'll even get some basting done.

Nice choice for the back! Hope your day is a good one! -Roxanne
Love all your choices, and your pick looks great! I really love that dark blue with the large beige/peach design, so beautiful.
Great pick for the Cobblestone backing, Wanda;))) The quilt is just so lovely--I really like that pattern a lot.
24 here this morning while we await the start of tonight's snow event. Seems that this time we get "plowable" snow.
Hugs, Julierose
How fun is it to pull out possibilities? And, to find a lovely choice, makes for a good day :). I keep receiving weather alerts although it’s hard to get too excited about them since that last prediction for ice ended up just being rain. Not that I’m complaining, mind you!
What delicious backing choices you have and I agree the one on the right in the last photo seems the best choice for playing nicely with that wonderful front!
Cold rain here this morning but a bit north of us they're getting ice and snow. Whew!
Hugs!
so many pretty fabrics!
So fun looking for backings with you. I agree good choice to complement your cobblestone top.
Really like that cobblestone top. In my ever-growing stack of wips, I have a wonky log cabin (aka Duckworth) quilt top in teals and purples. It resembles this done in quilting cottons. I love the improve piecing although there is more of that 4 letter word involved. That batik you have chosen is so pretty...batiks just seem to work in so many instances.
The cobblestone top is a beauty. Picking a backing for it has to be a fun occasion.
