Wicked storms, but all is OK..........

I made 11 blocks yesterday morning and early afternoon.  In the late afternoon storm watches were beginning.  The tornado siren went off twice but the tornado went south of me.  It was really scary to hear my town mentioned on the news as being in the path of the storm.  We got an inch of rain with that storm after getting almost 3/4" overnight and light rain all through the day.

I went to the basement when the siren went off and put the new blocks up on the wall.  I have to decide now which fabrics need to be used for the last 4 blocks.  I'm not happy with the arrangement of colors and fabrics at this point.
I have a tiny little start to an elephant ear plant.  I'll have to take a photo once a week on this plant to document the growth.

This is the corner of the yard where the ditch lilies are with hostas along the front of the bed.  It has gotten way too shady for the lilies and they don't have many blooms.

Good luck! I like your weather reports interspersed with patchwork reports.
Our weather tomorrow might be worth reporting on.

I am so glad the storms missed you. Tornado warnings are really scary.

It's dry here and hot, no rain at all. I'm not sure what a ditch lily is but I'm thinking they are just the lilies that grow in the ditches around here, mostly orange day lily. It's funny but your quilt top looks great to me, waiting to see your final top.

I didn't watch the news closely yesterday but heard that your area was to be in the storm area - it can be scary listening to the tornado sirens going off and wonder how close it will be to you and always hoping it doesn't come directly to you. Sometimes in stormy season we hear them a couple times a day and then other times a year goes by when we do not hear them. So glad it was not in your town - glad you have a basement of color to play in while waiting for the storms to go by

Very good to know that the storms missed your area -- and that you had your fabrics to work with while you waited it out in the basement.

With your quilting studio in the basement at least you had something to do while you waited for the weather to improve! The deer have now reeked havoc on my zinnias. You saw where they ate the tops off. Well, last evening I saw where they are now eating the leaves! I have no idea if I will get any flowers this year and I will see how tough zinnias are!

Only one really scary storm when I lived up there.... Small tornado touched down in Bolingbrook about 5 miles from the house. Closer than any in Nebraska!!! Personally I can live without that personal experience! Glad you made good use of the basement time and you an Sandwich are safe!!!

I am glad you are safe. I think I would want company while that was happening. Do you have a nice teddy bear?

So glad that the storms missed you....we don't get many tornadoes here in Virginia, so we don't have a siren warning system.
Like the others have said, it is good that you can play with your colorful fabrics while waiting it out.

I've heard about those storms. Glad you stayed safe.

I was thinking about you last night as I watched the weather reports, glad you were spared. I had to shop-vac water from the basement, but it could have been much worse. That was some storm!

Good to hear the storms passed you by - I didn't realise you lived in a storm area - seen them on tv but thankfully not in our area. I've never heard of an elephant ear plant so just googled them. Blimey, they can be enormous - hopefully your variety doesn't grow that big haha. We had a referendum election today, whether the UK should leave the European Union or stay (Remain or Brexit) and I wondered if you had heard about it on your news?

Love the large prints in your quilt. Your fabric selection is really cool, different and interesting.

We finally got some, but not nearly enough, much needed rain last night. No tornadoes, thankfully. It really cleared the air and cooled it down some.
I love your quilt, and I'm enamoured by the orange print with the large lavender dots, I'd love to see more of it!
