Another old favorite.........

This is another of my very favorite quilts that I have made.  It has blue, turquoise, green and purple batiks in it.  At first I added a border of purple batik (see here) but I just didn't feel that finished it.  I eventually took that border off and pieced the wonky piano key border (see here).  I gifted this quilt to a great-neice as an early graduation gift (several years early).  Her sister graduated that year so I sent three quilts in the box - one for her sister, one for her mom and this one.  I hope she is still enjoying it.  She lives many states away from me so I have never met her.
I used a blue batik on the back also.

  4. This is my favorite color combination - evidenced by the fact that I had teal bridesmaid dresses almost 29 years ago. I know your niece cherishes the quilt.

  7. That is the cool thing about quilts - you gifted this treasure to your great niece, who you say you have never met. But in a way, she has met you, through the love you sewed into this quilt. I am sure she loves it.

  10. Beautiful - I love all of the colors in this quilt. That's too bad that you haven't met her. It seems like a family reunion is in order!

  11. That is quite a quilt to give to someone you never met! I've gotten so I don't like to make things for people who don't make things. They really don't get it.

  12. You are a very good aunt to have! I like that quilt, too. It's funny how the quilts will sort of let you know when they are finished!

  15. Gorgeous! She should be still enjoying it! Even if you've never met her, I sure hope you've at least heard from her, but I also know how that goes these days 😳
