It was a rainy day yesterday and I got started sewing earlier than usual. First I sewed the 10 columns at the right together because I liked the arrangement and didn't want to make any changes. I sewed 6 new columns which are on the left. I have 3 more to make so I won't sew any more columns together until I have worked them into the mix.
There was a break in the rain in the afternoon and the sun came out.
The Garden Heliotrope is in full bloom and has a very strong scent that reminds me of lilacs.
We got 1.2" of rain yesterday according to my rain gauge. With rain predicted Wednesday and Friday I won't have to do any more watering this week.
The black raspberries are starting to form so I should have some fruit by the end of the month.
The seed pods are forming in the Lenten Rose flowers. I'm wondering if that is one big seed in each or if each one is full of small seeds.
The red Weigela bush is in full bloom and a little past its best show. I forgot to take a photo when it was nice and fresh. This is the showiest of my 3 bushes and it has a few blooms several more times through the summer.
It appears that the Lenten Rose seed pods have one big seed in each. There is a picture here: https://www.rhs.org.uk/gardens/wisley/wisley-blogs/wisley/june-2015/harvesting-hellebores-and-searching-for-seed
ReplyDeleteYour columns really grew!! :))) They're looking just lovely together...
ReplyDeleteWe have had a spate of lovely cool-ish Summery days--heading for rain tomorrow though--so I will sit out and handstitch on my Fabric Journal June page--I've been kind of stymied where to go next!! But sitting outside always seems to motivate me...Have a great day hugs, Julierose
The quilt top is looking great! I don't remember if the seed pods have more than one seed, but I do remember they are a nice size and are black. I was looking at mine the other day and thought about trying to harvest some seeds, but then again I have so many of those plants I really don't need to cultivate more right now.
ReplyDeleteThe columns are wonderful. Love to see the growth of them and your garden.
ReplyDeleteLove the visual effect of fringe!
ReplyDeleteNice post today Wanda ~ Rainy day progress on your quilt top with a splash of sunshine, for your garden tour.

In all the years I've had Lenten Roses, I never realized they produce seed pods. Maybe that's why they were so prolific at the last house!
ReplyDeleteWhen the rain stops here I'll go out and check mine.
