I think this is the final layout. I moved a few more blocks in the bottom area and made one new block for the bottom row, next to last block on the right.
This is the new block and it is lighter than it looks here. The light print is gold, orange and green which is what I had been searching for. This quilt is much softer and blends better than it looks in a photo. I hope I can get a better photo after I get it sewn together.
This is the area that pops out at me when I sit in my chair by the sewing cabinet and look at the design wall.
More of the orange/peach buds have opened. Two buds on the pale pink below it show in this photo.
Two more champagne color blooms and more buds on this cactus.
It’s a gorgeous example in your colorwash series. This is a block I made once—never dreamed it could look like this!! In the area that you feel pops I’m sure you’ve tried rotating blocks. The one in the upper left has a lot of white that I don’t see elsewhere. Maybe the small triangles of that block would blend better if they had more pink?
This quilt top has a colorwash look to it for sure! I also see a secondary pattern of a iron cross. This quilt is a reflection of your skill with color placement and a fabulous stash! The cacti are so pretty.
Looking very good. I agree that the one block with the mushroom looking fabric (upper left of the 4 blocks shown) seems to be more dominant. The other three look fine. Will you do a border or two? Any ideas yet?
Love it. On my "screen" nothing pops out. But then I am not sitting in front of it in real life/time. :-)
ReplyDeleteIt is looking super. Love the flowers. I only have one plant that is blooming.
ReplyDeleteYou have done it again. The background squares in blocks. It shimmers. I have the die and plan to use it!

ReplyDeleteThis layout is just perfect. None of my cacti have bloomed for a month...sad.. Be warm xo
ReplyDeleteI think this is your final layout to me also. I love the rhythm it has, and I saw the iron cross design too, besides the diagonal twisted ribbons.
ReplyDeleteAgain it's show time for all your cactus blossoms.

Really great work laying this one out! I like the secondary patterns too. And I have no Christmas cacti so I will enjoy yours.
ReplyDeleteLOVE ALL THE BEAUTIFUL KAFFE FASSETT FABRIC AND THE CROSSED CANOES LOOK SO GREAT USED TOGETHER.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love it! Glad you have such a beautiful indoor garden to set against the gray winter backdrop.
