While I am sewing my African fabric 16 patches I also continue to think about this yellow black and white project. I decided to look for some fabrics to use for some alternate blocks with the crazy pieced blocks. These 2 positive/negative prints aren't batik and all of the fabrics so far have been batik.
I have been looking for a place to use the birds batik.
This pair of positive/negative prints are batik also.
I have many black and white zebra batiks so I tried this pair.
I'll continue sewing and pondering..........
I find it hard sometimes to figure out how to use prints that drew me to buy them. I often think I will wait for just the right place to set them off...but lately I have thought--use them NOW--
ReplyDeletethe future is so "iffy"....and you bought them to use...Your B&W pos/neg/ pieces hit me that way. They are lovely--those zebras and birds and leaves....interesting where fabric gazing can take you;)))

Batiks are very "independent" fabrics, working well with each other but sometimes making it tough to add any others. Sometimes a nonbatik feels too flimsy???? Love this project.
ReplyDeleteNice bright project. The Black and White make it contrast well as yellow can sometimes get lost.
ReplyDeleteWow, I saw the zebra prints and they immediately pulled out the zebra stripes in the blocks! Good or bad??!!
ReplyDeleteI'm interested to see what you will choose, Wanda. I like the first and last pair of fabrics best. Decisions, decisions...
ReplyDeleteI was drawn to the last pair with the zebras and stripes. Whatever you choose, it will be just right.

Hey Wanda, where do you find all of those African print fabrics? I rarely see those types of prints in my online wanderings. tvonzalez@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI love this project. Gorgeous yellows! The leaves and the zebra stripes seem perfect. They're not batiks but they match your scrappy blocks.
ReplyDeleteAnother voice - another opinion. I really like the bird print with the yellow blocks. However, I know I will like whichever you choose.
ReplyDeleteDo you use some sort of pattern to make the crazy blocks? Or do you just use irregular size strips?
ReplyDeleteI like the birds combination. Or the third photo with the leaf prints (not the first one so much). The zebras would work but somehow seem more predictable since we all know you love zebras (but then, that's an excuse to use them, too). Happy pondering.
ReplyDeleteYou sure have plenty of choices!
