Red and Gray finished..........

I finished the red and gray quilt on Sunday.  I don't normally work in such a limited number of fabrics.  Back in the years when I was teaching about 100 classes a year at quilt shops and for guilds I had to make working samples for every quilt I was teaching.  This started out as the working sample for a Double Irish Chain and I ended up using only one of the 2 blocks that make up that design in this quilt.  I cut up the other blocks to make the sashing.
I had enough of a gray fabric from the 1990s to put on the back of the quilt.  The binding is the same fabric as the lighter red print and is machine finished.  It ended up around 47" x 71".

I finished basting the rectangular shaped colorwash so I took it off the table and prepared a square colorwash for basting.  It is finished now so I will put a third one on there to baste next.

  1. The red and gray quilt turned out really nice! It will be a good one to have in the stash as a giveaway. It is great you took pieces and parts just laying around and turned it into a finished piece.

  3. That "100 classes a year" comment stopped me in my tracks. That is A LOT of sample quilts to have ready to go with a ton of prep work behind each one. Congratulations on this finish.

  4. Like Julie, I had to go back and reread the 100 classes a year sentence. That's almost 2 a week for a year!
