Merrill is another of the art quilters. She makes very unique quilts. Every block has some 3-D effect on it.
I took several close photos so you could see the details better.
She used a huge variety of African fabrics in this quilt.
You would have to see this quilt in person to really appreciate all of the 3-D parts.
A stunning quilt! I enlarged each photo and enjoyed the details and the fabrics. What size is it?
ReplyDeleteAnother wow...what a creative group. The details look amazing...a lot of work, but it must have been fun to make.
ReplyDeleteWow, Merrill! That is wonderful! You are so original and creative! You and Jerry are such a great pair!

WOW!! A very unique art quilt. I love it. It inspires me to continue working on one I started over five years ago. Beautiful workmanship.
ReplyDeleteMerrill, your quilt is amazing, and I can't begin to imagine how tedious and time consuming this labor of love, took to complete. Thank you Wanda for sharing with us. Enjoy your day.
ReplyDeleteSuch a fascinating quilt, loved it and all the embellishments.
ReplyDeleteThis is truly a story quilt. The women in this quilt look like they could turn towards the viewer and tell a story of their lives and community. The materials, embellishments and design all indicate that this quilt has much to say about the inner lives of those portrayed.
ReplyDeleteOh, the stories implied by the women in this quilt ..

ReplyDeleteOMG, I love this. I’ve been to Africa and made an embellished African-themed quilt before, so this really speaks to my heart. Beautiful work, Merrill!

ReplyDeleteWow!
ReplyDeleteWow this is stunning. I would have loved to see it in person!
ReplyDeleteI was quite shocked to see this quilt on Pinterest. I see it was first posted on the quilt makers blog in 2018. The reason was that I made a very similar quilt over ten years ago, totally original and here it is turning up made by another quilter with changes but basically the same. I guess I should choose to be flattered rather than upset. What is the saying? copying is the sincerest form of flattery?
