Crazy piecing makes a big mess on the sewing table but it is worth it. This pile was about twice this size when I started sewing.
This is what a block looks like before trimming.

nice and neat!
All seven blocks.
I hand basted this wallhanging yesterday afternoon.
I also cut and pieced backing for the X quilt that I added the border to Tuesday. I got the roll of batting out and am ready to cut it. I needed to finish the basting first since that is the set of tables I cut the batting on.
Boy, do I love red! Your blocks look so juicy red. Sounds like you have a production plan going. The colorwash, as usual is stunning.
ReplyDeleteYour scrappy blocks are lovely. The use of strips and stings for beautiful blocks makes good sense to me. They are like found fabric to me. Chris
ReplyDeleteI love crazy piecing, but I am never so "color controlled" as you are. I just open the scrap bin and grab.
ReplyDeleteYou were busy yesterday! Love those red blocks!
ReplyDeletelove the red blocks that is a great way to use all those scraps.
ReplyDeleteAhh!! Mindless sewing. The best... especially in that bright red on a cold winter day!!

ReplyDeleteThe fun you had making your "crazy Piecing" red blocks sure comes through on my screen. Makes me smile to see the array of red fabrics.
ReplyDeleteTo scroll back to your January recap ~ you sure have outdone yourself once again. Each one is absolutely beautiful.

Oh yes, red! Red beats all other colors.
ReplyDeleteLOVE THESE RED BLOCKS!!!
ReplyDeleteI love your new red crazy blocks - I've slowly been getting some more red into my stash. And well done on all your finishes for January some great quilts, especially the 'X' blocks- love that one :)
ReplyDeleteI've been busy making bunting - one for my g.nephew who is a Manchester United fan and a long one for a craft group I joined last year. I'll share photo's when they are both ready. I also have other projects lined up as well :)
I love these blocks!
ReplyDeleteDo you sew them on a foundation square, or just strip to strip?
I'm pretty new to your blog, but I just love your quilts. I check you out pretty regularly and You've inspired this new quilter to try a couple of new patterns!
Anne
Hi Wanda, I really do love these wonky squares! Would you have time to show the process and pictures of each piece as it is being added? I know there isn't really a pattern but it's kind of just improv as you go but seeing how you do it would be helpful!
