The Warm/Cool Zig Zag is finished. I used the quilt top as a sample a year ago when I gave my color classes. It is an example of contrast achieved by alternating warm colors and cool colors instead of darks and lights. I would consider most of the fabrics as medium values with just a few dark prints thrown in. It ended up at 58.5" x 69".
I should probably take a photo like this of every finished quilt so I will remember what the backing fabric is.
Today it is supposed to get up near 90 degrees again after a cool spell with nights in the 40s. I will be inside working on my Fractured blocks so I won't mind it.
Yes a warm one here today also. The picture with the corner flipped is a good idea. Have you got a number as to how many quilts you have finished over the years? Chris
ReplyDeleteI still love the quilt. Wish I had your color mastery!
ReplyDeleteWe have very cool night, warming as the day goes on. I have to start painting my front step today.
Love the colors of that quilt!
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt - the colors are great! That is a great way to take the picture with the corner folded over. I often piece the back, so I try to take a picture of the entire back as well.
ReplyDeletethe rain has woken me early this morning and I am looking at blogs - love the quilt! here at my daughter's it is to be in the high 80's also - we came here to escape the heat of the south - it should be fall! LOL oh well it will cool off tomorrow - one last warm day I guess.
ReplyDeleteThis quilt is pretty! The backing you picked is perfect - I see both warm and cool colors in it.
ReplyDeleteWanda, the colors are just mouth watering. What a great and simple idea to photo with the corner turned over. I will start to do that. Thanks to you, I found Vicki Welsh and bought lovely hand dyes from her and yesterday she put me on her blog. I just love this quilt. Heading off today for a treadle conference.
ReplyDeleteLove the warm cool-one of your prettiest and they are all gorgeous. I want to take your color class!
ReplyDeleteI love it. I'm piecing HSTs now for an eventual veteran's quilt and this is the arrangement I was considering.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love the way it worked out!
ReplyDeleteLove this! Those warm zigs really jump out. Great layout too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a good illustration of the warm/cool concept. It works!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea of flipping the backside onto the picture. I would also like to put a note on the photo as to what I did with it and if I gave it away as a gift, who I gave it too. This old mind is having a hard time remembering who got what. LOL
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! Love the play of the warm and cool colors.
ReplyDeleteLove this! It looks like nothing but fun. :)
ReplyDeleteWe are supposed to get that hot weather tomorrow, but right now I find it hard to believe, because it is cloudy and still in the mid-60s. If it stays to the south, it is fine with me!
It's beautiful, Wanda. I always learn so much from your posts.

ReplyDeleteThis quilt turned out very pretty. I love all the fabric choices. I think the back was made for this quilt too!
ReplyDeleteIt is hot here in KS too. 89 degrees with what feels like 100 percent humidity - icky sticky!
Be cool and happy quilting!:)

That is a beautiful quilt! Great idea to turn up a corner so you can remember what you used for the backing.
ReplyDeleteI'm curious too - do you know how many quilts you've made over the years?
