Thread sale.....

The sewing machine store that I used to work at is closing their doors in Sandwich.  They have another store in Geneva, IL which will remain open.  I took a break from kit cutting and went down there to turn in my key.  She had a table of a variety of thread on sale for $2 each.  The Bottom Line which I use in the bobbin on my longarm is normally $7-8 so I stocked up on some unusual colors that I may not have purchased at regular price.  I use the variegated YLI quilting thread on all of my machines so it was a good buy too.  There were lots of serger threads there too. Good quality thread on sale is always a good buy. Saturday is their last day to be open.

  3. I hate to see another quilt store close (we're losing two here), but I'm happy you got some thread at a good price. I'm amazed at how much I use.

  4. you got some good bargains. Too bad the shop is closing though. It is hard to keep a store open these days although maybe the owner wanted to retire --

  5. Sorry to hear another local quilt shop is closing. I ordered some Bottom Line polyester thread to try in the bobbin of my domestic sewing machine. I'm not familiar with the YLI quilting thread that you use in all your machines. Noticed it was 100% cotton.

  6. It is sad they have to close. Right now my favorite quilting thread is Mettler 40 wt cotton. It works really good in my 1475 Pfaff.

  9. Dang it dear woman! I was misled and already to put in my purchase order! Living on a super tight budget, I am the queen of bargains and I was ready to whip out the plastic ;)

Love your purchases but oh so sad that another one bites the dust. Bright side..economy IS getting better, we are close to almost getting a job again after 3 years AND a lot of these stores will come back or new ones arise from the ashes!

I believe in HOPE and Miracles!

  13. I'm like you Wanda... I am always buying threads on sale. I know I have more thread than fabric.

Are there any fabric stores in left in the Fox Valley anymore ?

  15. Sorry to see another quilt shop closing. The quilt shop in Willowbrook has moved to Westmont and it is a larger store. Now that winter is coming maybe the stores will have more traffic in them. With the prices going up on some of the fabric and people out of work must have some impact on the stores. Just hope my favorite stores don't close.
