I got one stack sliced and resewn. I will do one more stack today. I think I will keep the last stack for demonstrating at the workshop.
If you live near here, the details are in this article from our local newspaper. They misspelled my last name but it is really me they are talking about.
The redbuds have leafed out and the flowers are still there after 3 weeks. In most years, the rain knocks the petals off after about a week. This year we have had very little rain so it is a longer blooming period.
I had to do a quick trial run for a colorwash with the African fabrics. I needed to see if I had to add any more fabrics. The pile at the right are regular fabrics with animal skin prints that I will probably cut in case I want to add them. Added later: this photo is taken from the stairs coming down to the basement and the design board is 30" x 40".
We got some more rain but the severe weather missed us. I haven't heard how much rain we got yet but the hostas have really perked up.
Your frog quilt looks like it will be so fun! And the watercolor wash looks good from here. Are you using a mini design wall to test it on? That is an idea I may need to try.
ReplyDeletethe severe rain missed us too. love all the fabric and nice to have a write up!

So do you have a frog print storage room and an animal prints storage room at your house? I can't imagine collecting enough of one design to make a quilt. It must take years!
ReplyDeleteWe woke up to snow covering everything this morning. It is in the twenties. Going out for my stitch thyerapy group this morning(it is hand applique and embroidery group.) Tornados missed us last night as we only had thunder storms. What a mixed bag of tricks! Martha in Minnesota
ReplyDeleteI like the colorwash mock up so far. I hope some of your rain comes this way. It is so dry in NH.
ReplyDeleteGood idea to do the mock up of the colorwash. Would you please tell us how big your little squares are cut? I am guessing one inch? No need to comment back to me. Thanks.

Frogs are very appropriate for this part of the world.
ReplyDeleteSince Thursday FIVE INCHES of rain has fallen.
Our Redbuds have long since lost their blossoms and have leafed out.
Your work is inspiring, Wanda.

Your blocks are such fun to look at. I have never seen so many cute frogs !
ReplyDeleteYour Redbud in all its glory... so pretty. Seems like they have had a nice 'run' this spring.
We are still waiting for warm spring days. We still are having cool spring days.

Your frog quilt is going to be so cute! Made me smile the minute I looked at that picture!
ReplyDeleteHi Wanda
ReplyDeleteWhew! those blocks in your trial African color wash are teeny tiny. What size do anticipate the finished piece will be?
Frog quilt blocks are so cute!

the frogs look cool. So many differen prints and all are with frogs.
ReplyDeleteOur younger daughter (who is celebrating her 28th birthday today) is a big fan of all things froggy, so she would really love that fabric! Me, I'm loving that colorwash you've got going.
ReplyDeleteI love the frog quilt fabrics. What kid wouldn't want that quilt. I wish I lived closer to you as I would love to be in your guild.
ReplyDeleteI got rain also and thankfully the storms were not too bad. And yes, the yard has really perked up.
