I finally made some more black and white wedges for this piece. I'm half way there....none of this is sewn together, just pieces on the wall.
I sewed the border on #6 and I like it. This piece wasn't dark enough on the edge to stand alone and needed the border. I like most of the series without borders. This one is about 22" square.
Spring is here! I hadn't seen any robins until yesterday, 65 degrees with wind gusts over 50 mph in the area. Today is supposed to be warm too and then back down to the 40s.
I have a wedge ruler , I've had it a long time and haven't got round to using it . I see your work and think, must do that . I used to sew all day . I really want to sew but just cannot get going . No birds in my English garden yet .Just the resident 2 Blackbirds
There's an almost 3D effect to that Crooked Cobblestone piece! Love it! We're getting the same weather as you, a day later. Today is just incredibly mild and rather windy. We've yet to see a robin, but I think spring is here!
Kaleidoscope circles make me smile...Cobblestone border looks perfect ... and mr. Robin is the first one I have seen now too even if he is not in my backyard (*._,*)... although our Red Winged Blackbirds are back.
Your wedge quilt has such vibrant, lively colors. I can't wait to see the finished project. It looks like a huge amount of work going into it! Happy sewing!
I've been peeking in to see if you came up with the "quicker" way to make your webs and kites for this terrific quilt. LeeAnn's is coming along too and I just have not cracked the "code" on how you are cutting these blocks. I have studied your drawing you made on one of your post but still kind of not getting it. Any chance you could show how you are doing it?
LOVE the top piece Wanda!!! What source are you working from? Your little robin gives me hope!
ReplyDeleteMy Mom saw one the other day. I haven't seen any yet. The progress is way more than what I got done yesterday. Keep up the great work. Chris

ReplyDeleteAnother 'lovely' coming up I can see! You have a great way with fabric Wanda--I sure do love to see what you're up to! :-)
ReplyDeleteI love the one with the wedges. Again it is the black and whites that does it for me I think. It's going to be a pretty quilt.
ReplyDeleteMonday I saw robins playing in the snow! Supposed to be 60!

It looks like a flower garden----so pretty.
ReplyDeleteSpring MUST have arrived. Yeah.
Love your spider web! Your warm colors really glow with the neutral in between. Mine's still on the wall, with about 40 more wedges to make.
ReplyDeleteYou haven't seen any robins because they've been living in our back yard (year round it seems). Glad at least a few have made the 8-hour trip north!!
ReplyDeleteI have a plan for my kaleidoscope project --- after the spools and barns are finished... so glad you introduced me to that ruler!

Robins.. I saw a cardinal a couple of days ago-- hadn't seen one for months. I like the kaleidoscope quilt,
ReplyDeleteHere in SD yesterday it was about 66. This morning as I left the house in the Black Hills, there were snow flurries. Crazy weather everywhere!

Now I really like that first quilt. Yep, I like all kinds of wedges/spiderweb designs. Good color selections too!
ReplyDeleteI just got through watching a yearling robin hop across my backyard with a 'goody' in his beak!
I love the wedge quilt!

ReplyDeleteAre those strip-pieced Kalideiscope wedges hard to sew with all the seam crossings? I really like those reds a lot Julierose

Wanda, I just LOVE your spider web quilt! Just gorgeous! It makes me want to make one right now.
ReplyDeleteI love the way those hexagon pieces change from light to dark. This is a great project.
