A little cleaning, quilting, and binding......

A friend who worked at a quilt shop with me more than 25 years ago is thinking about getting a longarm so I showed her how to load a quilt and how the machine works.  I had a QOV quilt ready to load and I finished quilting it after she left.  I don't vacuum very often so I decided to spend an hour cleaning before she came.  I need that kind of prod to get it done.  Now I have a clean living room, dining room and kitchen and it does feel good.  I really should do it more often.

Last night I quilted Crooked Cobblestones 5 and have the binding all sewn on except the corner where the label will be.   This little piece is 13" x 18.5".  There are 2 more in the series to be quilted, #4 (cross) and #6 which I just sewed the border on 2 days ago.  All of the little pieces are not on the list of quilts to finish but #4 is on the list (10 to quilt).
I hand basted a quilt yesterday (Sparkling Stars, second quilt on the post) which I will start quilting on my Pfaff today and I'm ready to load Rainbow River on my longarm so I am making progress.

  1. My house only gets cleaned up when I have company coming too! I just hate to waste the time cleaning when I could be sewing!

  2. Did you convince her to get a longarm? I'll bet she had fun and you got a nice finish from it.

  3. Wow! Your Sparkling Stars and Rainbow River are stunning! That's just the burst of color I'm waiting for outside to end this dreary Winter. Just looking at them has to brighten your day. You sure brightened my day by sharing them. :)

  4. Hi Wanda,
How do you decide when to hand baste and when to spray baste? Thanks!

  5. I think your blog should be THE very first blog I read each morning!! After I come over here I feel soooo inspired and energized by the glorious colors splashed EVERYWHERE!

...vacumming?.....does that mean you get out that funny shaped blue machine I have and push it back and forth all over my carpet....??? HA!

  6. Rainbow River is the very best name for this wonderful coloured quilt. I love the way the colours graduate, and the brightness is just right for a winter day. Here it is dull, and a lot of wind, so it was perfect to see. Cheers from Jean

  9. Everything you're working on, as usual, is just beautiful and exuberantly colorful! It's a pretty gray day here, so color is good. Fortunately for us, there are lots of flowers blooming here.

  13. I am very lucky as my son for a Christmas present hired a cleaning woman for me every other week. It is wonderful. I never have to take time anymore to dust and vacuum which leaves more time for sewing and crafting. I love my son!!! LOL

  14. I'm with you on vacuuming. It's like so many other things I can procrastinate on, though...once you do it, it feels and looks so much better, and it usually wasn't too much work. Good that you had a visitor to prompt getting it done!
