16 more blocks, frosty morning.......

The greens go from almost a lime to mossy green in various values and the photo doesn't capture that.  I love the corals in the warm color prints.  I sewed the last 16 blocks and put all of the blocks on the design wall while watching 2 hours of TV last night.  This would have been easier if I had 24 fabrics instead of 12 because it is hard to not have 2 alike coming together.  I think this is the final layout.....
I took this photo from the bedroom window, my maple tree in the back yard.
I had to get a photo of the burning bush.  It is past its prime and the leaves are starting to dry out.  You can see my maple tree in the background as well as the bare redbud tree and my neighbors' garage.
Yesterday morning was still frosty at 9 a.m.

Goldmound spirea in autumn colors.
The hosta has turned yellow, the columbine is still green and the sedum has red flowers.  So much beauty in nature.
I will be working at Quilter's Heart again this morning.  There is a lot of fabric still left and a great time to buy quilt backing at 40% off.

  2. Looks Great! The colors are cool, but vivid also. The look is really great. I looked up the pattern and as you said scraps would work also. Thanks Chris

  6. the quilt shop sounds like it is taking it's time going out of business. Some might be waiting for 60% off - of course all the good stuff will be gone by then! You are lucky to be there helping and can find what you want.
We have not had a frost yet although 4 miles away they did last week, we being up on a ridge are always later for frost then the people in the valley below us.
    Pretty quilt!

  8. Your photos of the Fall foliage are beautiful! I can't get enough of the colors this year. Seems every time I step out the door I have to grab my camera. Just gorgeous! The quilt contains all of those beautiful 'nature' colors too and I just love it. :D

  10. This is turning out great, even if it was a challenge to do a layout with a smaller number of fabrics. Thanks for giving us the link yesterday to the tutorial.

  11. Thank you so much for posting the beautiful autumn leaves photos. My heart has so longed for autumn brights this year (more so than at any time in the 23 years I've lived in NM), and I'm so far away from them!
I like your top with split quilt blocks too; I should find some time to do one in autumn leaf colors soon (although I have no idea where the time would come from)!

  13. This is a gorgeous quilt top... I love the continuity of the 12 fabrics. I only found ONE spot that I saw the same two fabrics meet. It was fun trying to find it. (*._,*)

OMG... those photo's all went into "MY PHOTO'S" "mother nature" sure is wonderful. And you captured it's beauty.

  14. Nature is the very best inspiration for me ... any season, especially when the sun is out (but even rainy days can be elegant).

    Love your new quilt top!

  15. I love this quilt, once again, you amaze me with your color/fabric choices. Your leaves are gorgeous, I must get a burning bush, they do well here as there is a whole row of them on my daily walk.

  16. I can see where a lot of fabrics in that would be a good idea.

We had frost here this morning too. Brrr.

  19. Hi Wanda,
Your quilt is looking great! I am going to have to be a copy-cat with this one!

Have you noticed that some of the fall colors this year are rather pastel? Instead of bright orange and red, I'm seeing orange and raspberry sherbet tones. And the color seems to have spanned a greater length of time rather than 2 weeks of pretty and then all done.

    Take care!
