Design wall time.........

I rewarded myself with some design time last night.  Earlier in the afternoon I had passed on my portion of a project to a group that is going to finish it and I finally have some free time.  None of these are sewn, just placed on the design wall.  I think my fabric selection is working well.  How did I select them?  I just pulled a bunch of my favorite batiks, the ones that had been too precious to cut, and then added a few strategic values that were missing.  I think I will limit myself to just this group.  I have enough of each fabric left to cut a few more pieces if I want to make it larger.
This is the view from my mailbox (lower right corner of the photo).  I took my mail out of the mailbox and immediately went to get my camera.  The close up shot a couple days ago is of the lower branch on the left side of the tree in my neighbor's yard.  I have to duck under it when mowing.

  1. I love your layout of the Drunkard's path!! Just beautiful! The fabrics that you chose are gorgeous. Flowering trees are fabulous this time of year. The one thing that I wish is that they would flower all summer long, wouldn't that be great?

  7. I agree with Gene's comment!

It's always a nervy move to cut fabric that's "too precious to cut". Good for you!

  14. Love that small block thrown in the middle! Can't wait to see the progression of this one. I really need to get my templates out and start cutting some of my own batiks.

  16. I can't be any more effusive than everyone else already has been, but I do love it! And the view from your mailbox is great. Spring is turning into summer very quickly -- I see your little weather icon says it's already 81 degrees where you are!
