I rewarded myself with some design time last night. Earlier in the afternoon I had passed on my portion of a project to a group that is going to finish it and I finally have some free time. None of these are sewn, just placed on the design wall. I think my fabric selection is working well. How did I select them? I just pulled a bunch of my favorite batiks, the ones that had been too precious to cut, and then added a few strategic values that were missing. I think I will limit myself to just this group. I have enough of each fabric left to cut a few more pieces if I want to make it larger.
This is the view from my mailbox (lower right corner of the photo). I took my mail out of the mailbox and immediately went to get my camera. The close up shot a couple days ago is of the lower branch on the left side of the tree in my neighbor's yard. I have to duck under it when mowing.
I love your layout of the Drunkard's path!! Just beautiful! The fabrics that you chose are gorgeous. Flowering trees are fabulous this time of year. The one thing that I wish is that they would flower all summer long, wouldn't that be great?
ReplyDeleteI love it. I had no idea that YOU had fabric you considered too precious to cut. That makes the rest of us feel better! ha ha.
ReplyDeleteThat's gonna be gorgeous! Love the interaction in the colors, very nice.
ReplyDeleteI like all your quilts, but this one is stupendous, the colours are so rich and deep, the juxaposition of the circles is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteOoh, I love the large and small circles and the way the values make them ebb and recede.
ReplyDeleteIt's always a treat to see what's on your design wall. Looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Gene's comment!
ReplyDeleteIt's always a nervy move to cut fabric that's "too precious to cut". Good for you!
I love your layout so far and the colors you have chosen.
ReplyDeleteI also love the photo of the blooming trees.
After the winter we had,
AHHHHHH! Spring!
LOVE the circles Wanda - some nice transparancies going on!
ReplyDeleteThis is looking wonderful. The DP is going to be so striking. And finally you have lots of blooms and color outside. Fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI love Drunkards Path designs, I have lost track of how many I have made although none recently. The trees are so pretty.

I always love to see what is happening on your design wall. This one is going to be fantastic! Love those flowering trees too!
ReplyDeleteYour design wall is gorgeous and so are the trees! I can see why you've been saving those fabrics!
ReplyDeleteLove that small block thrown in the middle! Can't wait to see the progression of this one. I really need to get my templates out and start cutting some of my own batiks.
ReplyDeleteI really love the effect of the placement of the batiks you've used! Will be interested to see your progress with this one:)

I can't be any more effusive than everyone else already has been, but I do love it! And the view from your mailbox is great. Spring is turning into summer very quickly -- I see your little weather icon says it's already 81 degrees where you are!
ReplyDeleteThe crab apple and the redbud look so happy celebrating Spring right there for you to enjoy!
ReplyDeleteAnd those batiks.......oh my, how pretty they look. I really like how you've got them placed.
luv the batiks that's going to be one luscious quilt.
ReplyDeleteLove the drunkard's path in batiks!! That is going to be a wonderfully rich and beautiful quilt. Our crab apple trees aren't quite ready to bloom yet. I can't wait -- as the smell is so fantastic!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, both your quilt and nature. Those are gorgeous batiks.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great wall you've got there.
ReplyDeleteHI Wanda
ReplyDeleteI too think this is a brilliant design and the batiks will make it a gorgeous quilt. Yes your design wall is an inspiration!
