A visit from Martha, Kaffe, Philip, Tina, and Kansas Troubles.....

If you don't read the names on the bolt boards or on the selvages that probably doesn't make any sense.  I had the test class on the zig zag quilt yesterday (2 students) to see if it would be a good class to offer.  All of the designers in the post title were represented.

You can see I trimmed the edges of mine.  It is about 51" wide and about 72" long and will not have a border.

This top is done now and will hang with the other 50+ tops waiting to be quilted.

  1. Do you quilt your own tops or do you send them out to a long arm quilter?

  2. Love the zig zag how wide are the strips. I have a bin of scraps from a friend and it would make a great zig zag quilt. Love it.

  4. very pretty -- I don't pay attention to the designers like you do and I don't pay any attention to that when I pick out fabric and go with what catches my eye but all of these designers are great and I can see why you like them.

  6. I have about 35 waiting to be quilted...and I'm determined to get some done this year. :) Lovely quilts, as always. And, I'm glad you picked one of my favorite fabrics as the background and alternate squares.

  8. I am so glad that you posted that you have 50+ tops waiting to be quilted. I don't have that many, but I have enough that I didn't enjoy piecing something new because of my guilt concerning those unquilted tops.

I'm going to let go of that guilt and enjoy piecing again. Thank you!

  9. The zigzags are pretty...do you just invite someone to test the class with? I haven't heard of running test classes.
Love the finished quilt as well.

  10. I wonder why it is that quilters always have many quilt tops to be quilted. I have two quilts being quilted in Arkansas right now and am waiting for some time to get to Plano to have another quilt quilted, plus a few more laying around. Who knows, maybe someday they will all be done.

  11. I love how you finished up the quilt top with the spiral batik sashing, whole blocks and blocks with smaller ones inside.

It's quite pleasant to look at and makes me smile.

  12. Really like you choice of colors and fabrics on you zig zag top..... I love rick rack and this pattern so reminds of that fun notion.

We are getting ready to help with planting the corn and beans on the farm, so I will catch up with your blog when that project is done.

    Cheers.....

  13. How did the test class go? Ready for a larger group? Each of the zigzag tops is interesting.

Your finished top is as exciting and interesting as any of yours. The fabric selections, block construction, and layout are uniquely you, Wanda. Another winner!
