I taught 3 classes last week, Thurs. Fri. and Sat., baked and prepared for company on Sunday, company Monday and Tues. and yesterday I gave a 3 hour class teaching a lady how to load her quilt on a midarm machine and beginning stitching lesson. After watching her for a few minutes I can see she is going to do a good job with free motion stitching. Wed. is one of the days I spend several hours with my dad too.
I'm ready for a 'me' day today. Please Dad (97 yrs old) don't call me today!
Now for the weird photo: I have had this little ziploc bag of tiny scraps about 1/4" x 2 1/2" for over 10 years. They are trimmings from the end of batik strips and have the selvage on one edge. I have tried to toss them several times but every time I remind myself they won't ravel much and could be used on an art quilt. I haven't done my journal quilt for last week or this week yet so I have an opportunity here. I have layered a bunch of strips in a flower shape (times 3) and am thinking, but was too tired last night to do anything.
You certainly did have a busy week of helping others. Definitely a me day was in store. Love what you are doing with the little strips!
ReplyDeleteBusy is an understatement! Can't wait to see what you do with the strips!
ReplyDeleteYou teach 3 times a week, plus a private lesson! That involves a LOT of preparation time too! Enjoy your day off. May it be an exuberant holiday for you.
ReplyDeleteYou definitely deserve a "me" day! Time to recharge the mind and the soul. Have fun creating.
ReplyDeleteyou have been busy and sounds like you do indeed need a "me" day. I thought I saved a lot of small scraps but I toss the ones that size - it will be interesting to see how your flowers turn out.

They look great - now for a dumb question: are you going to sew them or wonder-under them? I imagine a seam would eat the entire strip up. Just curious, I will look for future posts so you don't need to reply if you are not so inclined.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a busy week.
ReplyDeleteI like your start with the flowers, those strips really are small.
You've earned a day for yourself! I love the cute flower idea.
ReplyDeleteHi Wanda, Love your batik flower scraps!! Don't

ReplyDeleteI can hardly wait till tomorrow to find out if you were able to have your "me day" on Thursday. I sure hope so... Wanda you put all of us to shame with all you do... And I know how old you are. (*._,*) A twenty year old could not keep up!
ReplyDeleteI am excited to see what you do with the tiny tiny strips. I know it will be creative for sure.

Good grief! Busy, busy, busy and then you dig out those tiny slivers of fabric. My brain would hurt! In my persuit to deal with my scraps over Easter I have no plans to keep anything that small. Your a better woman than I am!
ReplyDeleteYou definitely deserve a 'me' day. Can't wait to see what you are going to do with those tiny strips!
ReplyDeleteYou'll come up with something. I have every confidence!
ReplyDeleteI hope you are having a wonderful "me" day and are having fun! Those little flowers are fantastic - can't wait to see what they become.
ReplyDeleteI see a very interesting ruler in your picture today....Can you post abouti t? I'm just a learn as you go gal, never had any formal instruction time and always curious when I see something new....Have a well rested day!
ReplyDeletehope you got done what you needed and wanted to get done.
ReplyDeleteyour colors are always so fun to see.
And hope dad did not need you this day...but bless him for being 97!
You are AMAZING! Can't wait to see what you come up with.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a few days of rest, relaxation and sewing just for you.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are getting your day of rest and can sneak in a few more days. I have been away from the sewing machine for the past few days and now it is time for me to return to the quilts I am making. Enjoy your time off.
ReplyDeleteHere's a thought for those darling tiny flowers. Make a bunch more and overlay with organza or netting. Then have a great time machine stitching them in place.
ReplyDeleteHoly Cow, you are one busy lady! I wished I could just do half of what you get accomplished.
ReplyDeleteHi Wanda,
ReplyDeleteIt definitely sounds like you deserve a break!
You have a fun start on the little strip scraps! I also like that yellow/red zig zag in the previous post from someone else's "spare parts".
