Rectangles, sewn and designed

I have sewn the first 2 rectangles for this quilt.  I need to make 4 rectangles of each of these colors.
I have designed 2 purple ones but didn't have the energy to sew them last night.
This is the first light one I have designed.  I need to cut a lot more light fabrics before I can make 4 different color groups.  I need to be a couple steps ahead of my students that are coming next Saturday but I don't have to have the whole quilt sewn.

  1. Hi, Wanda!

I don't think I'd want to own such a large collection of Kaffe Fassett fabrics, myself, but I like to look at them. (I do own a few of his books.)

Thanks for sharing these. I look forward to watching this quilt's progress.

Love how the corn pieces look like jewels on the rectangles.

  3. I have heard others too stay that they have to stay ahead of students - it is a way to keep on top of things and get things done!

  7. Hi Wanda, I'm behind on my reading! I discovered I just don't have as much time lately as I'd like to, so I can savor all the blogs I like to read!

Interesting rectangles, I especially like the light colored one. I look forward to seeing the finished piece; I know it'll be gorgeous because you have such a great sense of color and design!

  8. Beautiful colors you have chosen, it is hard to believe you don't have enough light strips cut.....have fun getting them ready.

  11. Your color sense is so fabulous! I'd doing a Pie in the Sky pattern for my daughter's college quilt, and I'm using a lot of Kaffes in it, along with batiks and other brights. Looking at your quilts I have learned the value of having lights in there too. Thanks!

  12. This quilt is one that helped convince me to buy this particular Kaffe book. I really haven't bought many of his lights. My mistake.
The darker ones catch my attention, and that's what I order. Your posts have shown me the error of my ways, if I want the contrast that quilts need. Time for some lights to head this way.
