I'm going to be teaching a class that includes this zippered bag so I thought I should run through the process so it will be fresh in my mind. I just finished the one on the left and the other one is ready for quilting.
I flipped the bag over so you can see the patchwork that is on the other side. If you want to see more of these that I have made, go to my Label list on the right sidebar and click on Tote bags. Scroll down and you will see all of the entries with them. My next one after these will be a crazy pieced one.
That is a great idea for scrap use. I do like the shape. To bad I live so far away. I would be taking several classes. Chris
ReplyDeleteI just had a brilliant idea for that little adorable bag! I'm always rummaging around, gathering up my sewing machine cord and foot control and extension cord when I take a class. Is this bag big enough to stuff those things into? Of course, I'm sure you could make it the size you need. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteZippers completely flummox me. I have at least two patterns for tote bags with zippers, but I just can't seem to get my brain around doing it -- even though I know how to read, lol!
ReplyDeleteI never even feel confident that I'm buying the right kind of zipper. Even though I know how to read.
Tote bags with zippers are perpetual residents of my "Maybe, Someday" list.
I like the bag done with the squares. i too wish I could take your class. I"d love to make it.
ReplyDeletethat is an interesting shape for the bag. How big is it? I am counting the inches on your cutting board and it looks like maybe 6 x 11? I haven't done one with a zipper in a long time, but then I don't make tote bags much as I have so many others siting around to use.

Very cute, Wanda.
ReplyDeleteLove the bag Wanda and I went to the tote bag section, those bags are gorgeous. All the beautiful batiks. Lots of inspiration!
ReplyDeleteThat is SO pretty! Another great gift idea.
ReplyDeletethe colors on the bottom of the bag are fabulous! I want one!!!
ReplyDeleteThose are great little bags! Very useful and cute too!
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to figure out how to make this little bag. if you quilt it before you sew it together, does the backing form the lining of the bag? if so, do you serge the bag together so that you won't have raw edges inside? and when/how do you put that zipper in? I can't seem to wrap my head around this: I'm gonna do the laundry instead.
ReplyDeletedidi, if you will enable your email address through Edit Profile, I can answer your question. I have no way to reach you otherwise.
ReplyDeleteI love these totes, they have more appeal than a 'Vera Bradley'. I really like both of these. The one that is made and the one to be made. Your fabrics are ALWAYS gorgeous.

p.s. did you notice I was on the wrong comment page ? I will go back now and leave a note on your' treasure'
phew...I checked out the tote label posts. You are officially THE Bag lady now! Each one was brilliant, or should I say exuberant?
ReplyDeleteWhat a great bag....wish I could take your class. Thanks for sharing.

A terrific little tote! I love all the variations you've made, especially the ones with the triangles. Indygo Junction no longer offers that pattern, but I think I can figure it out.
ReplyDeletehmm. I can't find Edit Profile. but I enabled Email follow-up comments. let's see if that works while I keep searching for Edit Profile... thanks, Wanda, for offering to answer my query.
ReplyDeleteI'm bummed that they don't offer this pattern anymore. It's great and I can think of kinds of uses for it. Love the fabrics you chose! Do you know of anyone that sells the pattern still?

Really cute. Just the word "zipper" sends chills through me.
ReplyDeleteI did it, Wanda: I found Edit Profile and enabled my e-mail address (which starts with "christine", by the way -- "didi" is a nickname). Thanks in advance for sending some how-tos.
ReplyDeleteLove the fabric, the colors and the bag...... this is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteA lot of colors and design combination but still it looks cute.

Wow another way to use up some of my scraps. Great idea. Where do you teach your classes? I would love to take a class. I live in Illinois, any chance that you do too?
ReplyDeletePat, you are a no-reply comment blogger. I have no way to get back to you (email). I am in Sandwich, IL and that is where I teach
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute tote bag. I just love the colors and pattern.
ReplyDeleteYour bags are great. Too bad the pattern is no longer available and your class is way too far away! I would also like to know how you handle the raw edges. Love your blog.
ReplyDeleteI love your work so much. I have been hunting for this pattern, ever since I saw your bags. Well I finally found it, in a shop in Switzerland! I got it today in the mail. It cost a lot in Euros, LOL, but now I can try to make this bag!
