I have had this quilt pinned on the Jewel quilting machine for over a week so I finally quilted it yesterday. It has been washed and is ready to present to a returning soldier/sailor.
I quilted it with meandering and stars.
I also got 2 borders sewn on one of the tops that was made at the last sew in. Now it is ready to go to one of the quilters in the group.
I love all your quilts! The QOV quilts are very nice, and I love the recent log cabin. You definitely have an eye for color! Which brings me to a stupid question: (I should preface here that I don't have a great eye for color and usually agonize over what goes with what) as long as the value is similar, does any fabric go with any other fabric? This question didn't actually occur to me until I was looking at some of your scrap quilts. I would not have thought of putting so many different fabrics/prints into one quilt, but it all works very well when you do it! And the resulting quilts, to me, have great texture and depth because of the variety of fabrics. I've been wanting to ask you this question for awhile. It probably seems silly to you!
Thanks!
P.S. I really enjoy seeing all of the quilts you make! You are so very prolific!
They look great, Wanda. Nice for Show n Tell today! We're having a nice storm right now--travel safe!
ReplyDeleteA soldier will really love this one. It looks like ribbons. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteIt will be a lovely gift. You did such a nice job on it too.
ReplyDeleteWow -- you got a LOT accomplished in one day! There is a real ribbon effect to that quilt. Would be fun to see it in different colourways too.
ReplyDeleteVery striking design!
ReplyDeleteThat quilt is SO pretty, and I love the quilting you did on it!

ReplyDeleteLovely quilt.....a real great cause too.
ReplyDeleteIs this pattern on your site?
I think I can sort it out.....
even so.
Happy Sewing
Both quilts are beautiful... I'm sure those that receive those quilts are touched emotionally as much as enjoying the beauty of it.

The look of ribbons is so dramatic and any soldier will absolutely love it. Such a striking result from strip sets!
ReplyDeleteI love the 3-D affect. Amazing what you can do with your expertise with color and value.
