A fun day and a present

When my friend Diane saw my Dutch Wax batiks on my blog she emailed me and said she had some for me.  Since the QOV sew-in was in the town she lives in, I stopped by her house.  Here are the blue Dutch prints she had.
They were all different than the ones I had.  At first I said I had the hummingbird print but then I realized I have it in black, not blue.
This fish print was one I hadn't seen.  It doesn't say Dutch Wax but is like them.

You  can see this is the fish morphing into birds, an Escher design.  I had never seen this one before.

There were some batiks in the bag too.  I only have one of these in my own collection.

There were lots of other blue prints in the bag too.  I have found the value of putting some blue in most quilts, even if it is only a little bit.  I tend to like the warm colors best blue helps them glow.  Thanks, Diane for this wonderful gift!!

The QOV sew-in was a lot of fun.  Would you believe my camera said "change batteries" when I tried to turn it on?  I didn't have any batteries with me so I'll send you to the blog for this group.  Caron has posted pictures from yesterday already.
A couple people asked for my fudge recipe.  I use the recipe that used to be on this brand of marshmallow creme.  They have changed the recipe a little over the years.  When I was a teenager I always made the Betty Crocker recipe from scratch.
When the marshmallow creme recipes became popular I switched over to it.  Even though some people call this cheating, I can give you a long list of people who love my fudge.

My son hasn't had time to put the new part in my old desktop computer so I still can't access my contacts list that is in it.  J-MT and Deanna (Yorkville), I need you to email me so I can get your addresses.

  1. Wanda - these fabrics are pure heaven. I love the fish morphing into birds fabric and, yes, blue does help the colours glow.

  3. What a fabulous gift!! They all go together so well. I also tend to go towards the warmer colors. Blue is not big in my stash. But I do see the value. Looks like you ladies had a good time and were quite productive.

  9. I have a small piece of the bird/fish fabric. I've had it since I bought it off the bolt. I've always loved it, but never known what to do with it.

Now I know to keep an eye on Wanda - maybe I'll get the proper inspiration. :)

  12. Loved your post today ! Fabrics are wonderful. I see more truly unique fabrics on your blog than I do when I am fabric shopping locally.

Thanks for the fudge recipe... I use a similar one that Mom always used with 'Campfire Marshmallows'. Calling for 4 boxes of them. ☺ Do you remember when we got them in the box? And Campfire is a brand that is not available here. Or maybe it has been discontinued. I am going to use 'your' recipe from the Kraft jar. It looked so creamy and delicious. Makes my mouth water just to look at it.

  13. This made me smile. In Jr. high my friend and I would eat marshmallow cream out of her Mom's cupboard and bury the jars in the backyard-her dad dug up the yard years later and was mad at all of the broken glass out there...oops. I love your blog!

  15. I love blue in a quilt - just a touch. I also love marshmellow creme on vanilla ice cream - a double dose of sweetness.

  19. I was surprised to see the Escher prints again. I made a quilt out of them in the 80's for my son's graduation from high school.....still not bound!!!!! Little behind on that one. But our last name is ESCH so I had to bring those prints into it. Some day I will picture and post it..........are those prints still made....does anyone know. I still have a few left if you get short.
