I trimmed down some braided border samples.........
to make 2 more journal covers but I never got back to them.
I decided to quilt this quilt instead. I still can't get a true color picture of it. The blue seed batik is really a rich royal purple. Maybe I'll take it outside after I get the binding on and see if I have any better luck.
The leaves on my redbud trees are starting to turn yellow. The big maple tree across the street has one branch of leaves that have turned color. This is way earlier than usual. It is going to be in the 80's all week though, just in time for the big county fair. It is always hot inside the buildings.

Oh how I wish our trees would start turning...but alas in Atlanta that is weeks away.

  3. I looked at our Maple tree today. It seems late to get buds, & I notice the Garden Vandal has removed lower branches, that always budded early. I do not understand the pathways of ...well, madness.

  5. I just love that batik quilt. The colors look great from here, but I do believe that it is just hard sometimes to get a true reading on the color in quilts. Enjoy the warm weather. Fall is definitely on its way.

  8. Those journal covers look great. And the quilt also. I love those colours together. When we drove up north last weekend I noticed that many of the swamp maples and sumacs had started to turn bright red. I guess the summer is over, but I am still holding on to the remains of summer!

  9. Love the journal covers!! And love the quilt -- as far as the purple not showing up the right colour, I think it has something to do with the chip in the camera -- the more sophisticated the chip, the better it can read purple. Or so I've been told.
I've noticed over the past week a few yellow leaves here and there. There's no question fall's coming. Even though the days are hot this week, the evenings are definitely getting chilly.

  10. These journal covers... would make great little fashion purses also.

And that quilt comes across like neon colors on my computer. So rich and vivid.

  11. I really like the journal covers. I am getting ready to make one too for my TAST (Take a Stitch Tuesday) project. All my stitch samples are in a regular looking office folder. It looks pretty stupid!
