I took my pile of small batik scraps and cut some pieces for the 2" bowtie blocks. I have pieces laying out for one block but I haven't sewn any yet. I need to change to a lighter weight thread on my machine.
I have always been intrigued with this traditional block and the die was 57% off and free shipping so I bought it. It is a 12" block so the largest pieces will work nicely with larger prints.
I sewed a sample block but haven't pressed it yet so I'll have more to show tomorrow.
Sewing yesterday was the hand stitching on the binding of the diamond quilt. I have about 54" left to stitch.

Turkey giblets is an interesting pattern…one of those interlocking patterns. Will you make it with two colors as is traditionally done…..somehow, I can’t picture you making it that way ;-)
ReplyDeleteTurkey Giblets looks like a lovely repeating pattern, Wanda ;))) Looks like it would be a lovely scrappy block.
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to seeing your little bow ties come together, too. 50 this morning and overcast--rains due to come in later on.
Housework slated for this morning and maybe sewing binding on Jelly Roll Jazz this afternoon...hugs, Julierose
You are going to get a lot of practice making Y-seams! The turkey blocks lends itself to so many different possibilities with color arrangement.
ReplyDeleteWorking with those teeny tiny 2” bow tie pieces has my head spinning. I can understand why the need for a lighter weight thread. You have more patience than any quilter I know.
ReplyDeleteTurkey Giblets has LOTS of points to keep track of, even with die cut pieces. Looking forward to your sample block (always so different than the package's glossy cover photo).
ReplyDeleteA die would make cutting the Giblets a whole lot easier than regular templates!
ReplyDeleteI had to look up what a Turkey Giblets quilt would look like since I couldn't envision the whole design from just the block. Interesting.
ReplyDeletePat
