A little bit of everything.................

I had a few things to take care of in the basement so while I was down there I got this little quilt ready for basting.  It didn't keep my interest though so I moved on.

My friend who visited on Monday wanted to buy some black and white batik fabrics for this quilt.  I had the fabrics in 2 bins and had large and small pieces all mixed together.

I want to sort through them now and get all of the small pieces in one bin and large pieces in the other bin.  There is a lot more variety than what shows in these 2 photos.

While I was still in the basement I looked for some pieces to audition for more borders on the medallion quilt.  The piece on the right is left over from a Trip Around the World strata.  I will keep looking for more options.

The binding is sewn onto the table runner made with Marcia Derse fabrics.  I decided I wanted to hand finish it. The binding is the same as the backing and is the same print as the border, with opposite background color.

  1. Ooh, I like that strata strip on the right. I hope it gets to stay. What a wonderful selection of b/w’s you have. No wonder you are able to find great b/w prints for any project you need. We received a dusting of snow overnight and it’s currently 17 out, brrrr.

  2. Love the assortment of b/w batiks! Yeah, the small quilt in the first photo isn't as exciting as your other WIPs. Stay warm!

  3. The fabric at the bottom looks good and the strata would be perfect for this quilt. Not so sure about the piece on the left. What a wonderful bin of black and white fabrics!

  4. Still love the baby quilt but I can see why you're drawn to the more colorful growing quilts!
I really like the strip on the Medallion quilt's right, too, and your blacks and whites are wonderful.
    Have fun!

    Hugs!

  10. A day late, but I have to share with you -- younger son (mid-40s and an artist in his own right) was standing beside me as I scrolled through your incredible b/w batik stash. He caught sight of the medallion quilt top and fell in love. It isn't often that he is captivated by a quilt top but yours certainly held his attention. (I love it, too -- )
