Back in mid-June I was sorting my floral fabrics to prepare some for a de-stash sale. I had 2 stacks that I was keeping and I finally got around to cutting them. First I cut an 11" strip off every piece that was large enough.
There is enough length in this group to cut another strip if necessary.
This group was shorter lengths or had squares cut out of them from the time I was making my Kaffe Seed Packet quilt. I can still get cuts from them, just not as many as I will get from the larger pieces.
One fabric has several yards and was too precious to cut. It might end up being a border.
Last night I die cut 6" quarter square triangles from two 4" cuts off the 11" pieces. There are 116 so far, not enough for a project.
This is what I am going to do with them. I will cut more triangles from the small pieces of fabric first.
I kept calling this quilt pink/gray and comments kept coming in calling the dot black and white. Here is the dot laying on a black background....see, it really is gray. The camera wants to make a high contrast between the gray and the pink and that is why it was deceiving. Sorry for the confusion.
For me, it’s so fun running fabric through the die cutter because the pieces pile up so quickly. I’ll be watching with interest as this one comes together as I don’t have many florals in my stash. Although, come to think about it, I bet I have more than I think as I am remembering a few right now. I don’t keep them stored together so I might have fun going on a flower hunt today ;-)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the pink flowers in grass fabric! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHappy Week!

i am always amazed at how much sewing you do but i know the die cutter is the main factor...it does shave lots of time off preparation....lovely fabrics
ReplyDeleteWow those triangles put together are fantastic! Yes I thought that fabric was black/white - I see now the difference!
ReplyDeleteGood job doing all that cutting--lovely results, too!!
ReplyDelete59 here this morning--a smidge of rain, but now the sun is emerging once again.
I just cannot get myself moving to do anything--guess a total rest is needed to recharge and re-think my direction. Hands still not able to stitch...c'est la vie i guess hugs, Julierose
You have so many beautiful florals.
ReplyDeleteCircle Play by Reynola Pakusich was on the free table at the guild meeting last week. Many of your delicious floral prints would work well with her design concept.
ReplyDeleteyes the pink and gray colors seem to vary - some of the photos have shown gray to me and other times more of a black. It is so hard to get lightening right happens to me all the time
ReplyDeleteFantastic Florals bursting on my screen. Joyous, Jubilant, Jumble of florals headed for a creation like none other. ~ JJM
ReplyDeleteLove your organization for your fabrics and will remember your 11" WOF cuts from the larger pieces!
ReplyDeleteThe floral HSTs will make a glorious quilt and, like my Purple Haze quilt from "Spectacular Scraps" by Judy Hooworth and Margaret Rolfe (in Australia), it won't matter much what HST goes where! Enjoy making this delicious quilt.
Hugs!
I spied two pansy prints in your stack that I also own. My plan at one time was to make a quilt with all pansies. Now I think I'd be more likely to mix the flowers all together (and I have lots of florals).
