#2 finish for November 2024

"Memories - 1956" is finished, just a couple months after I made the quilt top.  The gray dotted fabric is a Kaffe Fassett fabric, "Spot", the pinks are Kaffe's and Tula Pink's fabrics.  It is 64.5" x 76.5".

The backing fabric is by Kaffe Fassett also.  The batting is Hobbs 80/20 and it was quilted by my longarm friend, Robin.

I think the stripe with flowers worked really well for binding.  It is also a Kaffe fabric.  I just realized I didn't rotate this photo.

I hadn't checked the tomato plants for a few days and was surprised how many tomatoes were ripening.  Most of these will need a few days on the windowsill.

I picked 2 large green ones from the Big Beef plant by the driveway last week and they are both ripening nicely now too.  I didn't end up working outside much yesterday.  I did a load of laundry and then I had a friend coming over to choose 2 baby quilts.  Afterwards I went out to buy bird seed because it was on sale.  I filled the bird feeders which had been empty for 2 days....empty because of the squirrels.  They have to work a little harder to get the seed now so I'm only having to fill the feeders about twice a week.

  1. The Kaffe you used for the backing is perfect and, I agree, the stripes with flowers works well for the binding…..altogether perfect :) we have a bird feeder that closes the seed openings when a certain amount of weight is present. This works well to keeps squirrels, starlings and grackles away. The only downside is if more that one cardinal is present, it closes as well. With just the tufted titmice, chickadees and nuthatches and wrens can go through the seed in a day or two!

  4. Love that dotted fabric for the zig-zags--against those pinks it is so pretty. And the backing is really pretty.
You got a lovely load of tomatoes...yum!!
41 here this morning and sunny once again; I do love this weather, but we REALLY are needing rain....I just may have to do that rain dance after all!!:(((

  5. Very pretty finish - love the black and white with the vibrant colors, and the backing and binding look perfect. Our feeders are worked over by the squirrels too, but a lot of it gets tossed out, so the birds just pick it up on the ground.

  11. Such a lovely quilt. The pink & grey combo is very pleasing, it still has a scrappy vibe with your mix of 'pinks'. How big are your HSTs?

  14. Such a pretty quilt! I just got hit up by one of my granddaughters that she would like a pink quilt for Xmas. Now this kid was all about black, dark, goth, skulls now it's all about PINK and florals! I asked her if she fell and hit her head. We did looked around in my fabric storage room and found a couple pieces that she liked. I just don't buy many florals so I am really going to have to dig around.
