This is the binding I chose for the Kaffe Churn Dash/Hole in the Barn Door quilt. Of the 3 fabrics I showed yesterday this is the one that I would be least likely to use in piecing another quilt and it looks great with the backing. The other 2 will get used in other quilts. I trimmed the quilt and cut the binding strips.
While I was at it I chose the binding fabric for the Kaffe red squares quilt too. I wanted something a little darker than most of the reds in the quilt. I had 2 other contenders but decided they were both too light.
In this photo the fabric doesn't look darker but it really is. I haven't trimmed this quilt yet but I do have the binding cut.
I caught the yellow Stella Lily with a shaft of light on it. I see buds on another lily near it and I think that might be the Lemon Lily.
I love the red Coneflower blooms. It is tempting to go back to the garden center and see if they have any other colors of it.
I cut more volunteer trees and bushes yesterday and pulled out a few stray Goldenrod plants. I pull them all summer and still miss a few and have a bloom here and there in the back garden. I also pulled out the Nightshade plants. I looked up which ones have the red berries and it is called Bittersweet Nightshade.
pretty bindings,,I luv coneflowers but have never seen a red one ,the most common ones here are white or pink,I use to have a lot of day lilies but down to two
ReplyDeleteIt feels good to have something decided, doesn't it? Enjoy the day -- beautiful weather!
ReplyDeletethe binding looks really good with this one. The flowers are all doing well - I think I am pulling up volunteer trees 3 or 4 times a week!
ReplyDeleteVery nice Summer Sunday post today Wanda. Great start to a new week.

You have been really busy--inside and outside these days..;))
ReplyDeleteGreat binding--I like it a lot.
82 here with 78 DP--so not quite as humid but hotter today...
No sewing going on today as we watched the formula One British Grand Prix this morning...
hugs, Julierose
Love the chosen bindings and summer days are certainly good for hand stitching bindings in the cool basement!
ReplyDeleteLovely flowers outdoors, too. I've never seen a red coneflower and it is certainly exuberant. :)
Hugs!
What a lot of prettiness today! Thank you. I have a Stella D'Oro day lily, is that what yours is? It is such a prolific little bloomer. If I can just keep those blasted snails off it!
