Decision made.................

I made these neutral color 16 patch blocks in 2018 and there are 174 of them.  I had been trying to decide if I should make one almost king size quilt or 2 smaller quilts.  I did some figuring (for about an hour) last night and decided on one quilt 72" x 96" and another one 56" x 72".  There will be 3 blocks left over.  Now I can start playing with layouts.  I think I'll start with the smaller one because it will fit on my design wall on the mail level.

This is a quilt top I made in early 2018 with a lot of the same fabrics.  I made at least one more quilt top of the same fabrics and I sold both of them as tops.

When I went out to get my mail I knew I had to capture this view in a photo.  We have the frost/freeze warning for 2 nights so I'm hoping the blooms on the Redbud trees will survive.

  1. The blocks are beautiful and look wonderful together. Love the redbuds. It has been cold here, but things are blooming early.

  3. What interesting blocks and I love the 2018 quilt you made that's similar. How wonderful to have so many extra blocks from previous quilts that you can just jump into putting a new quilt together!

Lovely redbuds! We also have a freeze warning for tomorrow night and Monday night. Oh, dear!

    Hugs!

  4. when my redbuds were blooming we had a freeze and mine continued to bloom. My Weeping Cherry Tree on the other hand is extremely slow getting leafs on it this year and is continuing to struggle to have the leafs open and so far no blossoms - it normally blossoms in March and then leafs are opening at the same time - I do not know what is going on with it.

  6. It's remarkable what can be done with a neutral palette. We are hoping for rain this weekend and also expecting a cool down.

  7. Happy you decided to play with the neutral blocks (and that you are making 2 quilts instead of a monster one). Great photo of the redbuds against the greens and that blue sky!

  8. Those blocks are beautiful and making two quilts instead of a king sounds like a good idea.

  9. What a great post! I find most neutral blocks boring, but not yours! Somehow you always seem to make every block POP!
Those redbuds are gorgeous! Ours finished long ago. But I do have a garden full of zinnias that decided to come back. Vegetables or flowers? Decisions, decisions.

  10. Good decision to go with two quilts, one would have been unbelievably large! You have a great collection of neutrals in your stash!
