This box has Kaffe Collective fabrics and a few Martha Negley strips.
At its fullest point the bottom layer was packed in tight and a top layer covered half of the strips below them. Now I can push all of these strips over to one side and cover a little over half of the bottom of the box. I'm making progress using them up. They are great for mindless sewing with a "kind of" idea where I am headed.
I had housework that had to be done yesterday so I had nothing prepared to sew last night. I searched though the box for light strips and made 14 sets for 16 patch blocks. I should be able to get 2 blocks from each strip set.
I made this quilt a year and a half ago from light and medium strips from the same box plus a couple new strips cut near that time. This one is about 40" x 48" and I'm considering it a baby quilt. I would only have to sew one more strip set to make another quilt this same size.
my Begonia has 2 complete flowers now. The early blooms were just 2 petals each. I have this on the windowsill by my kitchen sink so I can see it often.
We got a little more snow yesterday and more predicted today and tomorrow. It's beginning to feel more like winter now.
What a lovely 16-patch Wanda--I really like the colors in these blocks. Nice work pairing them up...
ReplyDeleteYour Begonia is so pretty it must really glow against the snow you have.
None here--28 degrees this morning and sunny (YAY). Hugs, Julierose
it is always so nice to have flowers in the house in the winter I think to brighten the cold days. those light strips will make a wonderful baby quilt
ReplyDeleteIt has to feel good to have used up so many of those strips! The ones you have paired up will make a beautiful quilt.
ReplyDeleteI am impressed with all the space in the strip box! Will you re-fill with new cuts?
ReplyDeleteQuilt from a year ago is as pretty as what you started last evening. House work all day and then some sewing is a very productive day again for you. Your Begonia plant looks so pretty and so healthy and l can see more buds to open up soon.

Such beautiful strips! The 16 patch quilt is like a whiff of spring. Wish I had some blooms aroung here. Although I do love the green plants.
ReplyDeleteWhat happy fabrics in your 16 patch top and in the new version you're making! I have serious envy of your amazing energy and of your fabric stash. :)
ReplyDeleteHugs!
I just LOVE your pastel 16 patches. I'm going to need to make one some day. Time to dig out some pastels!
ReplyDeleteYour stash closet is an endless source of wonderful things! Apretty Quilt and using up strips equals a win for sure.
ReplyDeleteSweet! Funny thing. Fourth row down and second in from the left I kept seeing the mix of fabric as coffee mugs - the half circle next to the square made the handles.
ReplyDeleteI have a few blooms on the plants I brought in from the deck and keep near the south window in my sewing room. Planning for new blooms outside!
